About the Department
You must be at least 15 years of age, be available to work weekdays (approximately 5 to 25 hours per week) during the school year, and must be able to attend all required staff training sessions prior to the beginning of programs. Starting hourly rate will be within the range and will be offered at a level consistent with the experience and qualifications of the candidate. Direct deposit of paychecks is a condition of employment for all City of Gaithersburg employees.

Position Duties
- Plan, create, organize, and carry out appropriate program games and activities.
- Ensure a positive, fun, and safe environment for participants.
- Provide direct supervision of program participants.
- Assist with program setup and breakdown.
- Perform event related tasks as assigned.
- Perform general administrative support functions.
- Provide outstanding service, pursue continuous improvement, and exceed expectations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Be at least 15 years of age and attending high school or equivalent.
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills and leadership qualities.
- The ability to make quick and sound decisions, enforce safety rules and regulations, and stay poised and diplomatic in all situations..
- The ability to give, understand, follow, and carry out verbal instructions and directions.
- The ability to deal with children, parents, and other staff in a positive, reassuring, courteous, and professional manner.
- The physical ability to set-up and clean-up rooms for games and activities and to occasionally lift/carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to communicate fluently in English and Spanish or other language (desirable).
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification (may be obtained through the City upon hire).
- Or any acceptable equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to satisfactorily perform the essential job duties and functions.
