Summary
The Head of Corporate Development will be responsible for generating, managing and executing the function within the company that drives strategic growth and value creation through mergers and acquisitions (M&A), joint ventures, strategic partnerships, and divestitures. By focusing on both internal and external analysis, this role identifies and executes initiatives that improve financial and operational performance, expand market presence, acquire new capabilities, and ultimately enhance shareholder value. This professional will be will be highly visible at the most senior levels of the company. The ideal candidate enjoys diving deep into complex problems, works effectively with cross-functional teams and thrives in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
The selected candidate will be part of a small, collaborative team that values authentic, strong-willed individuals who think creatively and proactively look for growth opportunities. Over time, the selected candidate will act as a primary contact in conducting industry research, valuation analyses, due diligence, creation of strategic recommendations, acquisition term sheet and contract negotiations, and both internal and external relationship building.
Essential duties and responsibilities
- Analyze the company's strengths, weaknesses, and market position to identify strategic opportunities for growth.
- Identify, evaluate, and execute the acquisition of other companies to gain market share, technology, or new products.
- Analyze which business units or assets are no longer core to the company's strategy and divesting them to improve focus or cash flow.
- Establish collaborative agreements with other companies to pursue mutual goals, share risks, or access new markets and distribution networks.
- Manage the complex process of evaluating potential transactions, including financial modeling, risk assessment, and negotiation.
- Monitor market trends, identify emerging opportunities, and understand competitor strategies to inform decision-making.
- Evaluate the benefits of potential acquisitions and manage the process of building both internal and external consensus
- Evaluate synergy opportunities and risks in potential transactions
- Establish the ongoing processes, skill sets, and strategy that will enable the company to continue to build out our corporate development competency, in the face of extremely fast growth.
- In addition, the Head of Corporate Development will be an independent thinker who can make convincing, data-based arguments and work across the company, demonstrating a strong bias for action.
Qualifications
- Experience creating and analyzing M&A processes for a wide variety of transactions
- History of successfully completing high level, end-to-end negotiations
- Very strong analytical and communication skills
- Strong first chair experience leading the full M&A process life-cycle
- History of successfully leading and completing high-level negotiations
- Ability to build and maintain a network of senior level relationships to facilitate deal flow
- Experience aligning and driving cross-functional groups
- Passionate about big challenges

Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree, and/or MBA preferred
- 7+ years of technology business or corporate development experience in a corporate or financial services environment
