Do you love skiing or snowboarding? Do you love helping people? You might just love helping people ski and ride! Come join us and learn how to share your love and knowledge of mountain sports. If you are already in the know about teaching snow sports, we are always in need of experienced, certified ski and snowboard instructors. Compensation is based on certifications and experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Teach assigned classes and record necessary information.
- Execute skiing and/or snowboarding demonstrations so students can learn from observing.
- Be familiar with the general concepts of the American Teaching System as developed by Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) and American Association of Snowboard Instructors (AASI).
- Be familiar with Smart Style and incorporate into lesson plan.
- Posses a technical understanding of skiing and/or snowboarding, sufficient to clearly explain the mechanics of most skiing and/or snowboarding maneuvers.
- Clearly explain and teach the mechanics of skiing/snowboarding so students can understand and learn.
- Have versatility to adjust methodology to suit varied needs and desires of students.
- Teach to guests of all ages from children to older adults
- Be aware of available mountain terrain and snow conditions. Know how to integrate and adapt terrain choices for student needs.
- Be fully knowledgeable of Ski & Ride School products. Be able to relay this information to guests.
- Demonstrate excellent guest service at all times.
- Actively participate in RLK and Company’s Health & Safety Program by identifying and reporting potential hazards, reporting incidents, and promoting a healthy workplace.
- Exercise stewardship of all RLK and Company facilities and environments, ensuring that efforts are made to reduce, reuse, and recycle when the opportunity is present.
- Present a professional, quality image at all times.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
If you are interested in a position with the Ski & Ride School please consider the following:
- We have both part-time and full-time positions available.
- You must be available for some days during weekends and holidays
- Opportunities for a winter instructor to purchase a summer pass for just $25.
- If offered a position we will expect you to teach both adult and children group lessons.
Hiring information
If you are offered a position with the Timberline Ski & Ride School, you will be required to attend the following training:
- ITC: 11/15-11/16
- New Hire Orientation: 11/22-11/23 and 12/6 - 12/7. Both weekends are mandatory.
- First Day of New Hire Training: 11/22/2025

Your attendance at all training days is mandatory. Training will begin at 8am and continue until 5pm. We recommend bringing your own lunch and snacks.
Please make sure your schedule can accommodate these training days. In order to begin teaching you need to complete the orientation and all training dates. These training days will not count toward your commitment days.
Teaching is very rewarding and a lot of fun but it is a significant commitment. We hope this information will help you to make an informed decision and we look forward to your participation in our ITC.

Requirements
- Must be at least 17 years old.
- Must have excellent guest service skills.
- Must have excellent communication skills.
- Must be able to consider each situation individually and act accordingly.
- Must be able to handle many situations, simultaneously, in order of priority.
- Must be able to move quickly and with agility.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to stand for 2-6 hrs per shift.
- Must be able to walk on snow and icy conditions.
- Must be able to bend, twist, lift, ski and/or snowboard for 2-10 hrs per shift.
- Must have intermediate or above ski and/or snowboard skills.
