Position overview:
You’ll be part of a close-knit team dedicated to supporting member communications through Canada Life’s Workplace Benefits & Retirement team division.
You’ll work with business partners to create messaging for a wide range of communications – first to understand the need and then to craft the key messages and perfectly customized content by audience.
You’ll take complicated concepts and turn them into engaging copy that’s clear to customers who rely on Canada Life to help them through all of life’s journeys. Your excellent writing skills and creative collaboration with marketing and design teams will bring messages to life.
Your attention to detail and clarity in written communications is second to none. You’ll bring a critical thinking skillset that helps you ensure the right audiences receive the right information, at the right time and in the right way. This also approach extends to your work prioritization and time management skills. As the ideal candidate, you’ll be detail-oriented and results-driven with strong communication and organizational skills.
What you will do
- Develop and execute a variety of strategic, high-quality communications independently and with business partners
- Craft content and copy that is engaging, timely and appropriate for the audience
- Advocate for new communication approaches to elevate delivery effectiveness
- Ensure communication, brand consistency and style guide requirements are followed
- Identify risks and gaps throughout everything you work on
- Co-ordinate and deliver communications plans
- Manage project trackers to ensure projects deliverables are on track
- Provide communications expertise and guidance to business partners as required.
What you will bring
- 3+ years of experience in communications, public relations, or marketing
- A degree in English and/or French, journalism or media and information, and/or a post-secondary diploma in communications or public relations or equivalent experience
- Strong demonstrated business writing and marketing writing skills – candidates will be asked to submit writing samples or complete exercises as part of the selection process
- Demonstrated creativity and passion for what you do
- Experience managing projects is an asset
- Bilingualism is preferred
- As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism is preferred (fluent in French & English) but is required for Quebec only as the position will regularly serve our clients with French and English speaking needs
- Reliability Status security clearance - this is a personnel security status that is required before an employee can gain access to Protected B information, assets or work sites as outlined by the Government of Canada website

Given the size and scope of our organization, we have the flexibility for this position to be located in the following head office locations: London, Toronto, Winnipeg.

The base salary for this position is between $63,500 - $117,400 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
