Clinical Coordinator-Cath and EP Labs Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Clinical Coordinator to oversee and optimize daily operations within our cardiovascular and EP labs. This role is designed to provide consistent leadership, improve workflow efficiency, and support both staff and physicians in delivering exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical experience in the Cath Lab, proven leadership abilities, and a passion for continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Leadership
  • Serve as a consistent point of contact for staff and physicians to streamline communication and case coordination
  • Oversee daily patient scheduling, staff assignments, and room setup to ensure timely case starts
  • Manage schedules, including late starts and emergency coverage
  • Participate in the call team to maintain clinical presence and support
  • Staffing & Team Development
  • Coordinate onboarding and training for new hires and travelers
  • Assign preceptors and monitor progress of orientees to ensure competency and retention
  • Foster a positive work environment through collaboration, team-building, and open communication
  • Participate in hiring decisions and staffing strategy with leadership
  • Clinical Expertise & Quality
  • Maintain deep knowledge of Cath Lab procedures, technology, and patient care protocols
  • Monitor adherence to clinical protocols and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Lead or participate in committees such as Code Blue, Chest Pain (CP), and CoSE
  • Ensure high standards of documentation accuracy and patient care
  • Efficiency & Growth
  • Support transition into expanded facilities and increased case volume
  • Drive efficiency in scheduling, staffing, and supply management
  • Help build and support the growth of the EP program
  • Supply & Resource Management
  • Ensure availability of appropriate equipment and supplies for daily cases
  • Review PAR levels and assist with VAT committee responsibilities for new supply evaluation and justification
  • Access & Performance Metrics
  • Monitor and improve on-time start rates and daily case targets (e.g., 2–3 EP cases, 5–6 cath cases)
  • Analyze workflow and patient outcome data to drive continuous improvement
  • Identify and reduce avoidable extended days through proactive planning
Qualifications:

Required: Clinical experience in Cath Lab settings

Education: Associate’s Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred. Licensure/Certifications: Current RN license in state of practice; BCLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred; Handle with Care preferred. Skills: Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision in stressful environments. Proficiency navigating multiple clinical software systems. Effective English communication (read, write, speak, and understand). Ability to complete the Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire.
