Are you ready to shape the future of water infrastructure in the Inland Northwest and beyond? Stantec is looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Civil Engineer to lead and mentor our Portland-based civil engineering team. This is your opportunity to work on some of Idaho’s most iconic water projects and contribute to complex municipal and industrial plant designs that make a real difference in our communities.

What You’ll Do 

  • Lead and inspire our local civil engineering team 
  • Mentor junior staff and support their professional development 
  • Oversee the development of civil design documentation, including plans, specifications, and reports 
  • Prepare permitting documentation for stormwater systems through local jurisdictions 
  • Conduct quality reviews for construction plans, agency submittals, and engineering reports 
  • Produce engineering calculations for stormwater, potable water, and sanitary sewer systems 
  • Participate in project coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders 
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication within multidisciplinary teams 
  • Support construction administration tasks such as reviewing shop drawings, responding to RFIs, and preparing site observation reports 
  • Assist in selecting civil systems and materials 
  • Contribute to value engineering and basic cost estimating 
  • Use standard software tools to analyze and design civil system components 

 

Qualifications

What You Bring

  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative spirit 
  • The ability to think creatively and critically in a team setting 
  • Strong spatial visualization skills and the ability to interpret technical drawings 
  • Initiative and coordination skills across design disciplines 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn tools such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, AdlCPR, StormCAD, and WaterCAD 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (advanced degree preferred) 
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 6 months 
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in civil engineering and design

  • In accordance with pay transparency laws, compensation is based on education, experience, and location. Bonus eligibility may apply.

About Company


Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.

Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).
