Challenger Limited is an ASX-listed investment management firm managing $123.9 billion in assets (as at 30 June 2025). Life with us is fast moving and always exciting. Together we’re driving to deliver our vision to provide our customers with financial security for a better retirement.

We achieve this goal by providing a work environment where people from diverse backgrounds, with a range of skills and experiences can contribute and succeed.

Test Manager – Major Digital Uplift Programme – Permanent Opportunity

  • Own testing for a major digital uplift programme while shaping the future of our strategic initiatives and product rollouts.

  • You’ll lead a team, coordinate with partners, and keep everyone on track. This role makes testing central to delivering a critical programme, with a steady pipeline of future work

  • We offer a flexible hybrid model based out of our Martin Place, Sydney CBD office — typically 3 days in-office and 2 days from home.

About the role

We’re delivering a major digital uplift programme, and testing will be a key part of ensuring its success. In this role, you’ll be at the heart of the action – leading the test team, working with vendor partners, and keeping defects and risks carefully controlled so we can deliver with confidence. There’s also a longer-term pipeline of work, including strategic partnerships and new product rollouts, offering plenty of opportunity to make a lasting impact.

What you’ll be doing

  • Leading and coaching a team of four testers – setting clear expectations and keeping them focused on daily output.

  • Running daily stand-ups, tracking progress, and stepping in where needed to keep momentum.

  • Ensuring test cases are written to a clear standard with defined outcomes.

  • Owning the defect management process – prioritising, tracking, and driving resolution, especially for high-priority issues.

  • Coordinating closely with our delivery partner Accenture, who complete initial system integration testing, and resolve any defects raised.

  • Using Jira day-to-day for test plans, cases, and defect tracking.

  • Managing stakeholder expectations across the business, providing clear updates, and highlighting risks and issues early.

  • Reporting progress and blockers up to senior leaders in a straightforward way.

What you’ll bring

  • Strong experience as a Test Manager within large, complex change programmes (ideally in financial services).

  •  Proven ability to lead a small team and get the best from them – hands-on, structured, and delivery-focused.

  • Practical experience with Jira and test management tools.

  • Solid defect management expertise, able to keep the team and vendors focused on priorities.

  • Confidence working with external partners (e.g. Accenture), building effective relationships to deliver results.

  • A clear communication style – able to engage testers, business stakeholders, and senior leaders alike.

  • A resilient, roll-up-your-sleeves approach – willing to get into the detail when needed to keep delivery on track.
