About the role
Are you passionate about privacy, data governance, and making a strategic impact? As the Senior Manager, Information Governance & Privacy, you’ll lead the development and implementation of frameworks that shape how Victoria University manages and protects its data. You’ll be the designated Privacy Officer, providing expert advice, responding to privacy enquiries, and driving continuous improvement across the University. This is a high-impact role that works across diverse teams—including Indigenous units—to embed best practices and uphold compliance with privacy legislation.
About the person
We’re looking for someone with extensive experience in privacy, data governance, and strategic leadership. You’ll likely come from a background in higher education, government, or a complex organisational environment. The ideal candidate is a confident communicator, a relationship builder, and a change leader who thrives in cross-functional collaboration. A deep understanding of privacy legislation and Indigenous Data Sovereignty is essential, along with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive enterprise-wide initiatives. If you’re passionate about shaping a culture of accountability and excellence in data governance, this role is for you.
Duties
An example of duties you may perform will include:
- Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of VU’s Information and Data Governance Framework.
- Serve as the primary contact for privacy enquiries, complaints, and incidents.
- Develop and deliver privacy training and resources for University leaders.
- Drive strategic alignment and oversight through the Data Governance Committee.
- Collaborate with Indigenous units to embed Indigenous Data Sovereignty principles.
