About the Role

Sessional teaching positions are available within VU English (VUE), Victoria University's English language centre. VUE delivers a range of English Language Programs (EAP, General English, Study Tours) to international students that are designed to help improve their language and academic skills so they can transition into a course at VU. This role reports to the Academic Manager and weekly hours will range from 8 to 20 hours depending on the centre needs. 

VUE operates on two schedules: 9–11am / 1–3pm or 11am–1pm / 3–5pm.

As a Sessional Teacher within VUE for General English and English for Academic Purposes, your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering high-quality education to students from a range of linguistic backgrounds
  • Teaching onsite with the possibility of remote delivery if the centre requires it
  • Contribute to the development of learning and assessment resources 
  • Monitor, evaluate and assess student English language progression and successful course completion

 

Salary and Conditions of Employment

For sessional teaching roles, the hourly teaching rate is $95.01, plus superannuation, in accordance with the Victoria University Enterprise Agreement 2015. 

 

About You

If you are passionate about creating a positive learning environment and assisting VU students to gain necessary skills to explore further pathways, we would like to hear from you.

The successful candidate will need to:

  • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree
  • An approved TESOL qualification (CELTA/ Graduate Diploma or Master in Education: TESOL)  
  • Hold a current Working with Children Check or VIT or willingness to obtain one
  • A flexible approach to teaching that utilises effective teaching methodologies
  • Experience working with an international student cohort is preferred
