The Maryland Council on Economic Education (MCEE) is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization, based on the Towson University campus, that serves to enhance support instruction of economics and personal finance education in Maryland’s K-12 education community.
The Associate Director of Student Programs supports the Maryland Council on Economic Education’s mission to enhance K-12 economics and personal finance instruction by leading a portfolio of hands-on student learning programs. Reporting to the Director of Student Programs, this position develops, manages, and evaluates initiatives such as the Stock Market Game, Economics Challenge, and Personal Finance Challenge to engage students statewide. The role combines program oversight, teacher support, and outreach to expand participation and impact, while also representing MCEE at events and fostering partnerships. It requires strategic vision, operational management, and the ability to build strong relationships with educators and stakeholders across Maryland. Telework may be available for this position up to two days per week following the completion of 90 days of service in good standing.
Under the direction of the Director of Programs, the Associate Director of Student Programs is responsible for helping the Council broaden its impact on the K-12 education community through creation and oversight of our portfolio of hands-on student learning programs that Maryland K-12 educators use in the classroom as tools to engage students in learning and applying personal finance and economics skills and knowledge.
The Associate Director of Student Programs will perform the following duties:
Manage MCEE’s portfolio of student programs to maximize student impact, including program design and coordinating all aspects of program competitions and events.
Evaluate existing programs and provide a vision for improving existing programs, create new programs as needed and recommend ending programs that have reached their lifespan.
Identify opportunities to include student programs into curricular/content area instruction and promote value of program participation as a learning enhancement tool.
Develop and improve program training and teacher experience. Source, supervise and train, when necessary, regional trainers to conduct training sessions. Collaborate with Director of Student Programs to coordinate a calendar of program training opportunities.
Oversee MCEE university field trip program with university sites. Coordinate instructors, materials, and scheduling.
Expand program awareness to recruit new teachers while retaining existing teachers.
Develop and maintain the library of online resources MCEE offers to Maryland K-12 teachers to support student program success.
Identify, build, and expand channels for student program participation (Academy of Finance, clubs, Millionaire’s Clubs, etc.)
Collect and evaluate program participation data and prepare periodic impact reports.
Represent MCEE at local, regional, and national meetings and conferences, make presentations as requested.
Assist with the planning and delivery of conferences, recognition programs and other special events.

A bachelor’s degree (Maryland State Teacher Certification a plus).
Three or more years’ experience as a K–12 educator or in program management serving K–12 schools.
A track record of building strong relationships with educators, schools, and community partners.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to inspire and engage diverse audiences.
Comfort with technology tools such as virtual meeting platforms, Learning Management Systems, CRM systems, and instructional software.
A creative, problem-solving mindset with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Flexibility to travel throughout Maryland and occasionally work evenings or weekends to support programs and events.

Targeted salary range of $60,000-$65,000. Contractual employees scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage.
