Summary/Objective
The CNC Operator II is responsible for operating and maintaining a broader range of CNC equipment, such as Mazaks, Doosans, INDEX, or Nakamuras. This role requires proficiency in operating multiple machines and the ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues. The CNC Operator II also assists with training new hires and supporting different production cells as needed. This role may report indirectly to a Production Lead, with a direct reporting relationship to the Production Supervisor.

- Perform machine setup and calibration for various CNC machines by following setup sheets.
- Operate multiple CNC machines to produce parts to specification, ensuring product quality and maintaining tight tolerances.
- Troubleshoot and optimize machine performance to minimize downtime and improve efficiency.
- Inspect products during production using precision tools such as micrometers and calipers to ensure they meet tolerances and specifications.
- Document production activities, including machine performance, quality, and material usage in ERP systems.
- Train new hires and provide support to team members in the CNC process, ensuring they are proficient in equipment setup and operation.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to resolve mechanical issues and conduct routine machine maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
- Perform quality assurance checks and assist in troubleshooting issues.
- Flex across departments to support business needs as required.
- Any/all other duties as assigned.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves frequent lifting of materials and product up to 50 pounds and seldom lifting to 75lbs. Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle and/or adjust equipment. Moderate reaching, pushing, pulling, gripping, and grasping. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to safety glasses, and steel toed work boots or shoes.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position at 40+ hours per week. Days and hours of work will be determined by management. Typical schedule is Monday through Friday eight (8) hours per day. Occasional overtime, evening and weekend work may be required to meet business demands.
Requirements
Required Education and Experience
- Must be 18 years or older.
- High School Diploma/GED equivalent or significant relevant work experience.
- 2-5 years of experience operating CNC machinery operating both single-axis and multi-axis machinery, as well as single-turret and multi-turret systems, including Mazaks, Doosans, INDEX, and Nakamuras.
- Capable of using measuring instruments, i.e. micrometer, calipers, gages, etc.
- Capable of using all required hand tools, i.e drills, screwdrivers, impacts, etc.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints & part schematics.
- Ability to read/write, perform basic arithmetic, and follow verbal and written instructions.
