Arizona Arthritis & Rheumatology Associates, P.C. is the largest private Rheumatology practice in the United States. We are a seeking an ambitious, friendly, positive, and compassionate Patient Account Coordinator to join our team.

The Patient Accounts Coordinator (Bilingual) is responsible for proactive management of patient balances, ensuring compassionate, thorough, and compliant resolution of outstanding accounts. This role serves as both an advocate for patients and a key contributor to AARA’s financial health by combining investigative account review, patient education, and critical thinking.


The Specialist will communicate directly with patients (in both English and Spanish), educate them on financial responsibilities such as co-insurance and deductibles, and escalate complex issues appropriately. The role requires independence, leadership in problem-solving, and a strong commitment to closing the loop on patient concerns, while modeling elevated professionalism and patient-centered service.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Investigate and resolve assigned patient AR accounts with full accountability for closure.
  • Provide bilingual (Spanish/English) patient education on financial terms, balances, and insurance concepts (coinsurance, deductibles, payment plans).
  • Deliver consistent, compassionate communication ensuring patients feel heard and informed.
  • Escalate complex cases or patterns (e.g., billing errors, system issues, hardship concerns) to leadership promptly.
  • Act as a subject-matter resource within the Patient AR team, guiding peers and supporting account resolution consistency.
  • Document all patient interactions clearly and compliantly within NextGen and other systems.
  • Maintain knowledge of federal/state collection guidelines and AARA adjustment policies.
  • Collaborate with clinic staff, billing teams, and leadership to resolve barriers and improve workflows.
  • Participate in education and professional development opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential:

- High School diploma or equivalent.

- Bilingual (Spanish/English), with strong verbal and written fluency.

- Minimum 2 years of experience in medical billing, patient AR, or collections.

- Strong customer service orientation with demonstrated patient advocacy.

- Critical thinking and investigative account resolution experience.

- Knowledge of state and federal collections guidelines.

Desirable:

- Associate’s degree or higher in business, healthcare administration, or related field.

- Experience in a large multi-site healthcare practice.

- Familiarity with NextGen PM system.

- Proven track record of leadership or mentorship within a team.
