Exciting Career Opportunity!

The City of Palo Alto is seeking a full-time Development Project Coordinator to join our Development Services Division. This is a unique opportunity, as we are looking to fill one position at the level that best matches the candidate's skills and experience: Level I, II, or III.

The Development Project Coordinator I is the entry-level of the Development Project Coordinator series. Incumbents rotate into roles that route customers to the appropriate service area by walk-in/phone/email; provide general information; coordinate multiple discipline site-specific information responses; and process more routine/simple online and counter-based projects from early assistance through construction/closeout.

The Development Project Coordinator II is expected to perform moderately complex professional development project management work for routine residential or commercial development and building projects, and respond to complex information requests. It is the second of the three-level Development Project Coordinator series. Candidates in this position are trained to process complex online and counter-based projects (residential alterations or additions) and routine submittal-based projects (commercial alterations or additions) from early assistance through construction/closeout.

The Development Project Coordinator III will need a broader range of construction project management and organizational skills, professional judgment, technical knowledge, and enhanced issue resolution skills for projects using the multi-phased submittal and appointment-based processing. A person in this position will be responsible for projects that typically continue after a hand-off when a discretionary approval process is required. Significant discretion is required in determining the methods to be used although advice and guidance is available from the Development Center Manager.

The ideal candidate for this position is someone that is comfortable in a fast-paced work environment and has excellent customer service skills. They should also be well organized, have outstanding time management skills, be proficient in reading and understanding architectural drawings, have construction project management experience, and have a strong desire to provide excellent public service.
