Persona AI is developing and commercializing rugged, multi-purpose humanoid robots that perform real work. Persona’s founding team has a decades-long history in humanoid robotics, bionics, and product development delivering robust hardware that has touched the stars, worked miles below the surface of the ocean, and even roamed Disney Parks. Our mission is focused squarely on shipping beautiful, reliable products at massive scale, while building a customer-focused team to achieve these aims.

We're looking for exceptional people who dream big, thrive on challenges, and love seeing their designs come to life. We are primarily interested in candidates who have shipped products in the fields of autonomy, robotics, consumer products, medical devices, automotive, or aerospace. We also value advanced degrees and deep expertise.

As an inaugural engineer at Persona, you will have an incredible opportunity to shape the design of Persona’s humanoid robots, while also helping set the culture of the company. If you're passionate about cutting-edge technology and want to be part of a world-class team we'd love to hear from you.

How will you be part of the team?

  • Work closely with the engineering team to conceptualize, specify, and implement electrical architectures for various robotic platforms to include robotic manipulators and humanoid robotic systems.

  • Develop from scratch circuit designs and lay out schematics, PCBs, and wiring diagrams for robotic hardware.

  • Fluently design bare-metal (non-Arduino IDE) embedded systems leveraging state of the art microcontrollers.

  • Generate documentation for the designs, as well as block diagrams, test plans and procedures, and fabrication and assembly drawings.

  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers to tightly package embedded systems.

  • Collaborate with software engineers to integrate electrical components into complete robotic systems.

  • Interface with external manufacturing teams to enhance design for test, manufacturing, and assembly.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in electrical systems, ensuring reliability and performance.

  • Evaluate and select components and materials to meet project requirements.

  • Conduct simulations and performance analyses to optimize system functionality.

Requirements: What does an ideal background look like?

  • Bachelors (or advanced degrees) in Electrical Engineering or related field.

  • At minimum 7+ years industry experience post-college (5+ with advanced degree) designing and developing electrical systems.

  • Proficiency in CAD tools for circuit design (e.g., Altium, KiCAD, etc.).

  • Proficient experience programming C/C++.

  • Hands-on experience with communication protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, CAN, EtherCAT).

Bonus: What are additional examples of skills that would make a candidate stand out?

  • Masters, or PhD degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or related field.

  • Strong knowledge of embedded systems, circuit design.

  • Experience designing, testing, and improving sensitive analog systems.

  • Comfortable reading datasheets and application notes to implement working designs.

  • Hands-on experience with communication protocols (e.g., EtherCAT, I2C, SPI, CAN).

  • Hands-on experience writing drivers for sensors, actuators.

  • Experience bringing a product through compliance testing including UL, CSA, FCC, CE, etc.

  • Documentation experience - will be expected to develop detailed build assembly instructions and diagrams.

  • Experience architecting and designing batteries, battery management systems, charger systems, electrochemical simulations.

  • Experience with high-performance power electronics, including multiphase converters and isolated power supply topologies.

  • Experience with three-phase PMSM motor control, field-oriented control, flux-weakening control, and overmodulation.

  • Experience with simulation tools (ex: LTSpice, PSpice, Ansys, Matlab, Simulink).

Why join Persona AI?

  • You'll shape technology that's redefining the possibilities of robotics and human interaction.

  • Work alongside passionate teammates who value diversity, creativity, and continuous learning.

  • Enjoy full access to advanced prototyping tools, labs, and the freedom to experiment and innovate.

  • We offer competitive compensation, excellent benefits, flexible work environment, and equity opportunities.

Not sure if you meet all the listed qualifications? That’s okay!
We encourage you to apply anyway. Our needs are constantly evolving, and we're always looking for talented individuals who can grow with us. You might be exactly who we’re looking for — even if it’s for a role we haven’t thought of yet.
