We work collaboratively with the Victorian State Government to ensure we fulfill regulatory requirements, deliver State projects and safeguard customer data. The Victorian State Government retains sole responsibility for road access, infrastructure and safety.

About the opportunity
Join VicRoads as an External Communications Advisor, a vital member of the Corporate Communications team. You will play a key role in protecting and enhancing the reputation of Registration and Licensing Services (RLS) by managing day-to-day media relations, implementing issue and crisis communications, and delivering proactive communication strategies.
Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Communications, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support strategic business objectives and ensure clear, consistent messaging across all channels.
About you
You are a seasoned external communications professional with at least five years’ experience managing media relations, crisis communications, and strategic campaigns. You excel at clear, compelling messaging and thrive in fast-paced environments, collaborating effectively with stakeholders to protect and enhance organisational reputation.
At least five years’ experience in external communications or media relations, ideally in regulated environments
Strong written and verbal communication skills, producing clear and engaging content
Experience in crisis communication and managing sensitive issues
Excellent organisational skills, able to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail
Proven ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders
Sound judgment and professionalism when handling confidential information
Familiarity with tools like SharePoint, Campaign Monitor, and Canva
