We are on the lookout for an experienced Casualty Adjuster (must be located in Texas) to join our team. As a Casualty Adjuster, your role is integral to the insurance industry, where you will be responsible for investigating and evaluating insurance claims on-site. Conducting thorough inspections, analyzing policy coverage, and collaborating with experts, you'll determine the extent of damages and liability. Your keen attention to detail, excellent communication, and negotiation skills will enable you to provide fair and accurate claim settlements while ensuring compliance with industry regulations. With a focus on customer service and fraud detection, you'll play a crucial role in helping policyholders navigate the claims process and achieve a sense of security during challenging times.
Key Responsibilities
- Determine extent of insurance coverage and liability on each filed claim
- Investigate claims to include interviewing claimants, insured’s, and witnesses; and inspecting insured and claimant property, etc.
- Obtain necessary information from employer, hospital, police, physician, etc. to conduct a full evaluation of claim
- Utilize appropriate vendors
- Present thorough and accurate reports including photographs, statements (written or recorded) to clients and excess carriers on claim investigations
- Determine amount of claim payout
- Negotiate settlements for resolution with claimants and their attorneys while controlling litigation activities and costs based on account requirements
- Work with attorneys and expert witnesses to defend insurer’s position, if claimant contests claim outcome
- Effectively address and maintain incoming documents in a consistent and timely manner
- Attend meetings, mediations, conferences, workshops, or training sessions; and review written material to maintain current knowledge on principles, practices, and new developments in assigned work areas
- Maintain and meet state specific licensing requirements
- Respond to client questions and comments in a courteous and timely manner
- Travel may be required for claim or scene investigations as necessary
- Use standard or customized software applications appropriate to assigned tasks

Skills, knowledge & expertise
- Bachelor’s degree in business or another related field or equivalent work experience
- State licensure will be required
- Proficiency in Excel and in the use of Microsoft
- Must be in Texas
- Thorough knowledge of current principles and practices associated with claims investigations, adjustment, and related practices
- Capable of understanding multi-state laws and regulations to assist other offices, as necessary
- 5+ years of experience handling property claims
- Construction and/or property adjusting experience, preferred
- Prior experience conducting investigations in multi-party situations
