The Transportation Planner is responsible day to day activities, which can include planning inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring efficient, timely, and safe collection of goods, and report management. This role coordinates with carriers, service delivery and other internal teams to optimize transportation schedules, resolve issues in real-time, and meet collection and delivery performance.
YOUR TASKS
Transportation Management
- Oversee and support daily transportation collection schedule to ensure on-time, cost-effective delivery.
- Plan inbound and outbound shipments to meet customer delivery requirements at lowest cost.
- Monitor real-time transport execution to identify and resolve issues that may delay deliveries.
- Ability to update international commercial documents.
Cross-department activity
- Works with and supports the Service Delivery team.
- Works with DC outbound and inbound teams to support carrier collections and deliveries.
- Works with suppliers to ensure goods are ready for pick-up and all documents are available at the time of pick-up.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement within the transportation team.
Issue Resolution
- Handle incidents and emergencies, coordinating with relevant teams to minimize service disruptions.
- Manages and logs changes of routing and carrier allocation.
Reporting & Analysis
- Provide exception management reporting to internal and external teams.
- During the launch process, provide all additional customer requirements. Reports could include on-time pick-up, on-time delivery, and cost reports.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all transportation activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
YOUR PROFILE
- Minimum of 3 years in transportation, logistics, or supply chain operations,
- Strong understanding of transportation management systems (TMS) and route planning tools.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team effectively.
- For performance reporting and identifying operational inefficiencies.
- Ability to think quickly and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with internal teams, drivers, and logistics partners.
- Highly organized with a strong focus on accuracy and process compliance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and experience with logistics software.
- Experience with transportation software like SAP, Oracle TMS, or similar systems preferred.
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal transportation regulations preferred.
