The position: We are looking for a Community Builder to join our team! This role is perfect for someone who can develop and mobilize assets for collective action to create and maintain stronger communities. This position will be working with SHA’s Seattle Senior Housing Program.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services, community and economic development, or a related field
    1. May substitute four years of relevant work experience for the required degree
  • Four years of work experience in human services, community and economic development, social work, or a related field
  • Valid Washington state driver’s license with an insurable driving record


What will you do?

  • Develop, coordinate, and promote participation in community and supportive services, community planning, and other SHA sponsored activities
  • Facilitate the development and implementation of community building activities, such as block clubs, resident leadership organizations, cultural events, welcome events, and volunteer activities
  • Develop and maintain a wide range of partnerships with public and private entities that provide services to the community and the surrounding neighborhoods
  • Support, coordinate, and participate in multi-agency collaboration to meet the needs of assigned communities
  • Monitor the governance of public housing resident councils to ensure compliance with Housing and Urban Development (HUD) guidelines and to assist with process improvement
  • Conduct site visits to SHA funded human services programs to consult and evaluate compliance and success of program activities
  • Gather and analyze information regarding community supportive service needs through various methods, such as surveys, interviews, and focus groups
  • Assist with policy development and program implementation for community and supportive services in assigned communities
  • Prepare program proposals, budgets, and applications for federal and local funding for community and supportive services
  • Prepare all required reports to HUD in accordance with program jurisdiction
