REPORTS TO: Domestic Violence Coordinator
JOB OVERVIEW:
The Domestic Violence Case Manager plays a critical role in advancing The Whole Child’s mission of ensuring every child has a safe, stable, and nurturing home. This position supports families impacted by domestic violence, human trafficking, stalking, or interpersonal violence as they transition to or maintain stable housing. The Case Manager provides trauma-informed advocacy, housing support, safety planning, and service coordination to promote long-term housing stability and overall well-being.
ESSENTIAL FUCTIONS:
- Assist clients in locating and securing safe, affordable housing.
- Develop individualized housing and service plans based on client needs and goals.
- Provide housing navigation services, including property search support and counseling.
- Engage and advocate with landlords, property managers, and housing providers to expand housing opportunities.
- Connect clients with community resources to address housing barriers (e.g., utility assistance, furniture, moving costs).
- Support families in accessing health care, food, employment services, and other stabilizing supports.
- Conduct ongoing safety assessments and develop personalized safety plans with survivors.
- Provide mediation and advocacy to resolve landlord-tenant concerns and prevent housing loss.
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the agency’s electronic health record system, with progress notes submitted within 24 hours.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to coordinate services and referrals.
- Uphold client confidentiality and maintain professional boundaries in all interactions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related mental health or human services field (preferred). Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience providing domestic violence or victim services, case management, or related support.
- Completion of a 40-hour Domestic Violence Counselor Certification (required).
- Strong knowledge of the social services field, including housing systems, trauma-informed care, and crisis intervention.
- Valid California driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of auto insurance.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work is performed in a normal office setting, client’s homes and the community.
- Noise level is moderate with occasional loud outbursts.
- This is a field-based position and requires 80% driving.
- Will require a personal motor vehicle to frequently travel between offices, housing appointments, and community events.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Constantly converses with colleagues and clients.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- Occasionally moves about inside of the office to access office machinery, supplies, etc.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office machinery, (i.e., printer/copier and calculator).
- Frequently operates own motor vehicle to travel between offices, client homes and the community (mileage to be reimbursed).
- Frequently needs to position self to effectively interact with children of lesser stature (such as: sitting for extended periods, kneeling, and stooping.)
- Occasionally transports materials (supplies, toys, books, etc.) weighing up to 50 pounds for Group Connections, parent-child activities and parent engagement supplies.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
