JOB SUMMARY

The Physician Assistant (PA) is a medical professional who has graduated from an accredited PA program, has passed the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistance (NCCPA) exam and has an active NCCPA certification. The PA has the education and training to provide acute care of adult and pediatric populations. The Physician Assistant is responsible for providing holistic primary care to patients under the medical supervision of the Medical Director as outlined in the Collaborative Practice Agreement. This position involves ongoing collaboration with Department physicians. This position is responsible and accountable for providing quality care to outpatients as defined by Missouri Statute

JOB DETAILS AND REQUIREMENTS

Clinic Duties:

- 6, 12-hour in-house Ortho Trauma night shifts per pay period, nights determined in collaboration of Ortho Trauma Providers.

- 7PM-7AM in-house shift

-Consult, casting, rounding in collaboration with Ortho Trauma Provider

Education:

- Graduate from accredited school of nursing or Physician Assistant Program and successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner Program or Physician Assistant Program.

Certification & Licensures:

- Current license as an Advanced Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant by the State of Missouri

- AHA or Red Cross BLS Certification

- ACLS Certification (required in specialty areas)

Experience:

- Three years' experience as a family nurse practitioner or Physician Assistant preferred. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to maintain a safe working environment

- Knowledge of medical terminology and examination, diagnostics and treatment room procedures

- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, physicians, staff and the public

- Ability to maintain quality control standards and maintain calm and effective reactions during emergency situations

- Ability to communicate clearly, as well as understanding and responding to detailed oral and written instructions

- Current BLS certification and required licenses

- Ability to learn and efficiency utilize diagnostic equipment, electronic systems for ordering, medical records and other common computer programs
