SUMMARY: The Accounting Manager will lead and direct all activities pertaining to Goodwill’s financial activities, under the direct supervision of the Vice President, Accounting/Controller.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following, other duties may be assigned:
- Promotes the general goals and objectives of the Heart of Texas Goodwill Industries.
2. Installation and supervision of all accounting records based on universally accepted accounting standards in compliance with existing laws and with those agencies with whom the corporation maintains contractual agreements.
- Assist the Vice President with preparation of financial reports and statements detailing the status of the organizations’ past, present and future financial position in an accurate and timely manner.
- Continuous audit of all accounts and records of the Corporation(s), wherever located.
- Oversee the processing and coding of cash receipts, daily bank deposits, recording of revenue and receivables, cash disbursements, payroll and related transactions, and long term debts.
- Assist the Vice President with the preparation of the annual budget in conjunction with the President and Chief Executive Officer and other senior staff. Regular monitoring and reporting of actual and projected performance against budget.
- Supervise all accounting records based on universally accepted accounting standards in compliance with existing laws and with those agencies with whom the corporation maintains contractual agreements.
- Establish, modify, document, and coordinate the implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures (joint activity with Vice President of department).
- Prepares and/or oversees preparation of reports required by regulatory agencies.
- Compile and file all tax reports in a timely manner (sales taxes, payroll taxes, unemployment taxes, etc.)
- Reconcile accounts on a monthly basis.
- Maintenance of adequate records of contracts, purchase orders, leases, and grants.
- Oversees purchasing and all disbursement functions of the organization.

- Maintains strictest confidentiality in all aspects of the work.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages 3 to 5 subordinate employees and/or clients in the Business Office. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; terminating employment; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must pass a drug screen. A criminal background check is required. A driver’s license check is required. Must show proof of current driver’s license and minimum auto liability insurance coverage.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field with adequate accounting background and/or course work plus 5 years experience in an equivalent accounting position; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Management of a small team required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: None required, CPA preferred.
