The Opportunity
The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all daily operations within the production department. This includes supervising team members, coordinating production schedules, and ensuring that all activities adhere to safety, quality, and regulatory standards. The supervisor acts as a key link between the Production Manager and the production staff, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback. They will be responsible for a team of Production Leads and associates and will drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and productivity.

Leadership and Team Management
- Supervise Production Staff: Directly manage and mentor Production Leads and associates, providing clear direction, performance evaluations, and constructive feedback.
- Employee Training and Development: Develop and implement training programs for new and existing employees on equipment operation, safety protocols, and company procedures.
- Scheduling and Assignments: Create and manage daily and weekly production schedules and assign duties to ensure production goals are met efficiently.
- Conflict Resolution: Address and resolve team conflicts, performance issues, and disciplinary matters in a timely and professional manner.
Production Operations and Efficiency
- Oversee Production Floor: Maintain a consistent presence on the production floor to monitor all aspects of processing, packaging, and changeovers, ensuring smooth and uninterrupted operations.
- Process Optimization: Analyze production processes and identify opportunities for improvement. Implement new methods to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
- Resource Management: Coordinate the allocation of ingredients, materials, and equipment to different production lines to minimize downtime and maximize output.
- Data and Reporting: Review, verify, and approve all production documentation, including batch records, downtime logs, and quality reports, before submitting them to the Production Manager.
Quality and Compliance
- Enforce Quality Standards: Work closely with the Quality Assurance (QA) team to enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and strict adherence to FDA and USDA regulations.
- Issue Resolution: Promptly investigate and resolve any quality-related issues, such as product inconsistencies, equipment malfunctions, or ingredient discrepancies.
- Audits and Inspections: Prepare for and participate in internal and external audits, ensuring all documentation and processes are in full compliance with regulatory requirements.
Safety and Maintenance
- Promote a Safety Culture: Lead by example and enforce all safety protocols and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to maintain a safe working environment.
- Troubleshooting and Escalation: Oversee equipment troubleshooting and coordinate with the Maintenance team to schedule repairs and preventive maintenance, minimizing production delays.
- Accident Prevention: Proactively identify potential safety hazards and implement corrective actions to prevent workplace accidents and injuries.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position is responsible for supervising or overseeing the work of a team of production staff.
Competencies
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with production management software and Microsoft Office.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards.
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- At least 3-5 years of experience in a food or supplement manufacturing environment, with a minimum of 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
The employee is primarily working in a warehouse environment, between 0 and 45 degrees Fahrenheit. The noise level in the warehouse can be loud. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust. Work may be performed under hazardous conditions such as operating heavy equipment within the Warehouse. Required to wear all issued safety gear and PPE at all times. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position requires lifting heavy objects, walking, sitting and standing for long periods of time. Performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions such as cold. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; and effectively bends, crouches, twists, sprints or throws objects. The employee must climb and maintain body balance. Frequently lifts items up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee must have excellent stamina. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position that may require working different shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed to support 24/7 production operations. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. The role involves working in a food manufacturing facility, where adherence to strict safety and sanitation protocols is mandatory. This position does not require travel.
