Description

Roncelli is seeking a full time, Business Development Manager with 1–3 years of experience to help expand our commercial and industrial presence across Michigan and the Great Lakes region. This role is responsible for identifying and pursuing new RFP/RFQ opportunities, building and maintaining client relationships, and driving measurable growth in the project pipeline.

 

The Location

 

This position is based at Roncelli’s headquarters in Sterling Heights, Michigan. The Business Development Manager should expect to travel up to 50% of the time for client meetings, networking events, industry conferences, and other business development activities.

Qualifications


Responsibilities 

  • Manage existing sales pipeline and identify and pursue new business opportunities in targeted market sectors.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of Roncelli’s services, differentiators, and project portfolio to effectively communicate the company’s value proposition.
  • Research industry trends, competitor activity, and upcoming projects or RFQs/RFPs and meet regularly with Sales & Marketing department to discuss strategy.
  • Represent Roncelli at industry and professional organization events as well as tradeshows, conferences and community engagement activities to enhance our visibility and connection to the market.
  • Collaborate with the Proposal Manager to develop customized materials for client/ A/E meetings, proposals, and interview presentations, particularly for pursuits where the Business Development Manager has initiated or owns the client relationship.
  • Shadow and learn from Roncelli’s current Business Development team to ensure seamless integration with ongoing strategies.
  • Develop and track quarterly metrics: proposals submitted, conversion rate, pipeline value, and revenue targets.
  • Conduct research and analysis on new project opportunities (public/private RFPs, upcoming commercial builds).
  • Own executive proposals (qualifications, presentations, pricing strategy) in collaboration with Proposal Manager.
  • Lead discovery meetings with clients and A/E partners; qualify opportunities and coordinate internal teams.
  • Travel regionally for site visits, client meetings, and events (up to 50% travel expected)
     

Qualifications 

 

Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Communications, Construction Management, or a related field.

Experience: 1-3 years of experience in business development, sales, or client relations.

  • Valid driver’s license for work related travel.
  • Proficient with CRM systems such as Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar platforms
  • Self-starter with excellent time management, organizational skills, and follow-through.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Comfortable networking and representing the company in external forums
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating across internal teams
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a natural ability to build trust and rapport.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Be a brand ambassador for the company.
  • Knowledge of the AEC industry and commercial real estate markets is plus.

 

Work Environment & Physical Demands


The Business Development Manager will split time between Roncelli’s corporate office in Sterling Heights and external locations, including client offices, networking events, trade shows, and active construction sites. The office setting is professional and team-oriented, with frequent deadlines and collaboration across departments. External environments may include conference centers and construction zones, requiring travel by car or air up to 50% of the time, as well as exposure to varying weather conditions, noise levels, and other typical construction-related factors.

 

The role involves regular standing, walking, and traveling, with frequent lifting or carrying of materials up to 25–50 lbs., particularly during site visits or event setups. Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing/pulling, and navigating uneven terrain may also be required. Office-based work includes prolonged sitting, computer use, phone communication, and document review. The position requires effective visual and auditory acuity—including distance and peripheral vision, color perception, and hearing. When on job sites, the Business Development Manager must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as a hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety vest, and steel-toed footwear.
