Job Description – Mechanical Engineer

Role Overview
Lead the end-to-end design and development of electromechanical products especially Valve actuators, from requirements capture through prototyping, validation, and production release. Deliver innovative, cost-effective, and manufacturable solutions that meet stringent performance, safety, and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own full design lifecycle: requirements analysis, concept generation, CAD modelling, simulation, prototyping, testing, and release.
  • Ability to handle Product improvement requests and BAU tasks for Product range maintenance.
  • Integrate mechanical, electrical, and control systems into robust, optimised designs.
  • Conduct tolerance stack-ups, GD&T, and design for manufacturability (DFM) for casting, injection moulding, machining, and sheet metal.
  • Apply finite element analysis simulation (atleast linear static) to validate designs prior to prototyping.
  • Design and specify machine elements (springs, gears, bearings) and integrate off-the-shelf components.
  • Create and execute verification & validation plans, define test cases, and set up bespoke test rigs for performance evaluation.
  • Ensure compliance with DFMEA, industry standards, and relevant certifications.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with electronics, software, manufacturing, and quality teams to deliver fit-for-purpose solutions.
Qualifications:

Education: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering (regular).

Experience: Minimum 7–8 years in mechanical/electromechanical product design, preferably in industrial or automation sectors.

Core Technical Skills

CAD & Modelling: Solid Edge (preferred), Creo, or SolidWorks; advanced assembly modelling; parametric design.

Simulation: FEA (linear static), mechanism simulation, VB scripting for automation.

Design Practices: GD&T, Tolerance stack-up analysis, DFM/DFA, material selection, sealing and fastening systems.

Design Processes: Knowledge on DFSS tools like FMEA, Pugh Matrix, QFD, Kano analysis, benchmarking.

Manufacturing knowledge: Understanding on Basics of Casting, Plastic injection moulding, Fabrication and machining.

Product Knowledge: - Electric actuators, Fluid power actuators and Gearboxes in field of flow control is added advantage.

Systems Knowledge: Electromechanical integration, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, Analog/digital device interfacing.

Testing & Validation: Bespoke Test equipment design, instrumentation & data acquisition device selection, root cause analysis.

Documentation: Engineering drawings, BOM, compliance documentation, and release packages.

Soft Skills & Attributes
