Why this role is awesome:
As an Operational Safety Engineer at Vay, you’ll be at the heart of ensuring our daily operations run safely, smoothly, and at scale. Working closely with both engineering and operations, you’ll act as the go-to expert for safety, making sure our procedures are robust, effective, and continuously improving. From incident investigations to optimising processes for our growing fleet, your impact will be directly tied to keeping our groundbreaking service safe and reliable.
What you'll be driving:
Ensure operational safety procedures and rules are followed and continuously improved.
Lead the investigation and triage of incidents across Vay’s daily operations.
Maintain organised records and documentation of findings.
Review and optimise safety processes to support rapid fleet scaling.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed safety into every stage of operations.
What are we looking for:
Structured approach to problem-solving with a highly organised working style.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Analytical mindset to identify risks and resolve safety concerns.
Passion for promoting a safety-first culture.
Sharp attention to detail to ensure compliance and risk mitigation.
Willingness to travel several times a year, including long-distance.
Nice to have:
Experience in software development (SQL, C/C++ or Python).
Background in operational safety / safety engineering (any industry, not just automotive).
Hands-on experience with incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
Familiarity with data analysis tools (Power BI, Superset, or similar) to evaluate incidents and safety trends.
