What You Will Do:  
The Benefits Specialist (Benefits Team) is a key member of the Human Resources team being integral in supporting the overall administration of the benefits and leave of absence programs in addition to supporting other functions within the department. This position is heavily involved in the HRIS as it pertains to benefits set up, reporting and will be responsible for remaining up to date on system changes to determine areas for improvement.  This position will have an opportunity to interact across the HR department and within the firm, assisting ERG’s and firm-wide events to promote and communicate benefits and wellness initiatives.    

Essential Job Requirements:
  • Administer firm-wide employee benefit programs including in a timely and organized manner;
  • Assist with the processing of benefits enrollments and changes including monthly reconciliation of carriers’ invoices; 
  • Arrange and organize annual trainings and events coordinating within the HR Department and across the firm;
  • Interface with insurance brokers, carriers, payroll and finance departments as needed;
  • Participate in the design and implementation of benefits programs;
  • Conduct benefit orientations for new employees; respond to employee questions and concerns and provide information to clarify benefits; 
  • Communicate updates/announcements regarding benefit information using technology and other avenues;
  • Play a key role in the open enrollment process by establishing back-end process, creating communications, assisting employees throughout the process and conducting audits of benefits selected and payroll deductions;
  • Coordinate closely with Payroll and other HR functions on any changes that may affect employee’s pay; Establish and maintain appropriate tracking systems;
  • Maintain and update procedures and processes for all facets of the benefit and leave of absence functions;
  • Keep abreast of employment and benefit law changes and implement as necessary. Interact with internal and external clients to answer questions and resolve matters.
  • Prepares ad hoc reports, as requested.
  • Perform other duties and projects, as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
  • Highly proficient computer skills to include HRIS, database management, Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Speed and accuracy as well as a comfort level with the accounting and reconciliation of numbers.
  • Excellent follow up skills and ability to prioritize work. 
  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality as appropriate.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Demonstrate a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent client service skills and ability to work effectively with all levels within an organization including senior management. 
Education, Certifications and/or Experience:
  • Associates/Bachelor’s Degree preferred;
  • 5 years of experience in Human Resources role, preferably handling benefits and leave of absences.
  • Knowledge of a variety employee benefits programs with the ability to be the point of contact.
  • Experience administering leaves of absence including FMLA, State leaves and knowledge of legal compliance (i.e. HIPAA, COBRA, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of Dayforce or other similar HRIS self-service systems.
  • Experience working with AETNA or other medical insurance preferred. 
  • Law Firm or professional services background preferred.

For candidates meeting the requirements, the expected base salary is $80,000 to $90,000. The range provided is the salary that Lowenstein Sandler in good faith believes at the time of this posting that it is willing to pay for the advertised position. Exact compensation will be determined based on individual candidate qualifications and location. Our benefits package includes coverage options for medical, dental, vision, prescription drug, life insurance, disability, FSAs, 401K, and paid time off.

Office Location: Roseland, NJ
Schedule: Full-time, Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Hybrid)
