General Summary:
Under the supervision of a 1st District Court Administrator (DCA) records court proceedings and prepares transcripts as required performs clerical and support services to the Attorney magistrate and District Court Clerks offices. Performs the duties of the attorney magistrate secretary and court recorder, schedules and maintains the attorney magistrate’s docket, organizes files for court and ensures all parties have been properly noticed. Produces correspondence, opinions, speeches, answers daily telephone calls and manages personal files for the magistrate. Serves as back-up Judicial Secretary/Court Recorder to District Court Judges.
Employment Qualifications
Education: High school graduation or equivalent with some advanced college level coursework in legal secretarial training, including coursework in legal terminology preferred.
Experience: Two years of secretarial experience in a court or law office or related setting providing knowledge in the processing of district court cases with prior experience working with FTR Gold digital recording software preferred.
Other Requirements:
Must sign a Monroe County Court Employee model code of conduct.
Must attain State of Michigan certification as a Certified Electronic Recorder (CER) within the first (1) year of employment and recertify as applicable.
