Job Description:

Position Summary: 

The Commercial Enablement Manager plays a critical leadership and hands-on execution role in driving sales effectiveness, process discipline, in concert with commercial systems deployment and optimization. This “player-coach” role leads a small team focused on sales training and enablement, commercial contract tracking, sales system deployment and administration (Salesforce.com, Sales Training, etc.) and overall commercial systems support. 

This individual collaborates cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Operations, Finance, Legal, and IT to ensure operational readiness, data visibility, and systems alignment that enable scalable revenue growth. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

Sales Enablement & Training 

  • Develop, deliver, and manage onboarding and ongoing sales training programs. 

  • Partner with Sales and Marketing leadership to align training, sales tools and available content with strategic priorities and go-to-market plans. 

  • Own the coordination of the creation and distribution of playbooks, battlecards, and selling tools. 

Commercial Contract Management 

  • Track and maintain sales/commercial contracts across geographies and customer segments. 

  • Partner with Legal, Sales, and Sales Leadership to ensure compliance, standardization, and renewal timelines. 

  • Monitor execution timelines, support review of client performance to contracted requirements and flag risk/opportunity across key agreements. 

CRM & Commercial Systems 

  • Lead administration and user support for CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot), including workflows, dashboards, reporting, and field enablement. 

  • Support deployment, user adoption, and continuous improvement of commission tracking systems and quoting tools. 

  • Act as the business lead for integration between systems (e.g., CRM ↔ ERP). 

Commissions & Incentive Tracking 

  • Support tool(s) utilized by larger commercial operations team to process and track commissions and salesperson performance. (analysis to be owned within the commercial analytics function, this I see as tool deployment and territory data management). 

Team Leadership 

  • Coach and develop this team of specialists across enablement, systems, and operations. 

  • Set clear priorities, KPIs, and performance expectations. 

  • Cultivate a culture of accountability, agility, and continuous improvement. 

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Operations, or related field; MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred. 

  • 6–10+ years of experience in commercial operations, sales enablement, or sales systems management. 

  • Proven experience managing CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Dynamics), sales enablement tools, and commission systems (e.g., Xactly, Varicent). 

  • Strong understanding of both B2B and B2C commercial processes including sales pipelines, training delivery, and contract lifecycle. 

  • Demonstrated success in player-coach roles with small teams. 

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. 

 

Preferred Skills and Attributes: 

  • Experience in life science commercial operations, sales enablement or direct sales within or supporting a global sales organization. 

  • Proficiency in reporting and analytics tools (Excel, Power BI, Tableau). 

  • Familiarity with commercial policy enforcement and contract compliance best practices. 

  • Change management and user adoption experience in enterprise system rollouts.
