So, what will the Senior Lead Server Engineer at Terrestris do?

As the Senior Lead Server Engineer you will serve as a technical leader within the OIS, guiding the planning, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise server and data center infrastructure that supports the USCP’s mission. This role ensures high availability, security, scalability, and resiliency of critical IT systems supporting law enforcement operations, continuity of government, and Congressional security.

What does a typical day look like for the Senior Lead Server Engineer?

You will:

  • Plan and lead major technology assignments, evaluate performanceresults and recommend major changes affecting short-term project growth andsuccess.
  • Function as a technical expert across multiple project assignments.
  • Perform systems engineering throughout the entire system lifecycle to support datacenter modernization.
  • Develop understanding of customer's organization, goals, businessneeds, and enterprise architectures and systems and establish systemdevelopment and integration methodologies and standards such as the ELCM.
  • Facilitate the collection, storage, security and integrity ofelectronic data while ensuring appropriate access. Continually assess thetechnology needs of USCP Select and introduce technologies which will furtherthe police/security mission and prepare for Cloud Services.
  • Provide excellent 3rd level support, and innovation in thedelivery of information technology services such as Infrastructure as a Service(IaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS).
  • Monitor all servers/services, core applications and testprocedures for recovery from catastrophic failure of equipment and/orapplications. Support Contingency Operations (COOP) and Disaster RecoveryProgram (DRP).
  • Monitor datacenter environment and maintain hardware inventory ofall racks. Implement Capital Equipment Replacement Program (CERP) to bettermanage equipment replacement at a more manageable pace.
  • Develop system architectures that adhere to the EnterpriseArchitecture. Develop user requirements and ensure that business solutions areconsistent with client strategic goals and investment decisions.
  • Employ best practice processes in the design, development,integration, and implementation of systems. Apply business process improvementpractices to reengineer business processes, principles, and methodologies.
  • Implement state-of-the-practice systems and technology in theclient environment, using leading-edge approaches, concepts, and ideas. Researchand evaluate system designs to select appropriate technology and ensureefficient use of resources.
  • Supervise the Server Engineering Team.
  • Work onsite in downtown Washington, DC three (3) days per week.

What qualifications do you look for?

You might be the professional we’re looking for if you have:

  • Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently without sponsorship.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering, InformationSystems, Business, or other relevant discipline or related field.
  • A minimum of 5-8 years of experience in the related area as anindividual contributor.
  • A base-level certification, such as A+, Security+, or Network+.
  • A Core certification within their functional area, such as Server(MCSA, MCSP, MCSE, Microsoft Certified Windows Server Hybrid AdministratorAssociate), VMware Professional, VMware Advanced Professional, VMwareSpecialist.
