Job Summary:

We are seeking a Staff Clinician with a strong background in providing culturally competent mental health services. The ideal candidate will have experience working with diverse populations, particularly BIPOC communities, and will be committed to promoting inclusivity and equity in mental health care.

This is a full time, benefits eligible, 11-month position.

Job Duties:

Reporting Relationship:

  • Reports to the Director and the Associate Director of the Counseling and Student Development Center.

Work Setting/Schedule:

  • On campus student facing position with some remote work possible, if deemed clinically appropriate.

  • This is an 11-month position, full-time position.

What You Will Do:

  • Clinical Service: Provides mental health counseling to students including individual therapy, group therapy, assessments and crisis intervention.  Documents and maintains confidentiality of client records. 

  • Case Management: Provides consultation, case management, after hours on-call crisis management.

  • Community-Based Collaborations and Consultations: Conducts outreach to college partners and participates in departmental meetings.  Consults with colleagues for professional guidance. 

  • Professional Development: Stays abreast and informed of best counseling practices.

  • Non Essential Functions: The job description's listed responsibilities and tasks are not exhaustive, additional non-essential tasks and responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

What You Will Bring:

Required:

  • Education: Master's of Social Work OR Master’s degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology or a closely related field.

  • Professional Work Experience: Two or more years post licensure experience in mental health field working with young adults.

  • Professional Certification or License: Licensure: Licensed as a Clinical Social Worker or Professional Counselor in the State of Pennsylvania. Applicants with master’s degrees must be currently licensed and able to obtain licensure in Pennsylvania prior to start date.  Pennsylvania state board approval licensure must be secured within 12 months of start date if relocating from out of state.  The university does not reimburse for initial nor renewal licensing fees.

  • Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of best practices and legal, ethical, and regulatory issues in mental health; Demonstrated experience in providing outreach on mental health topics and educating groups on overall health and wellness; Demonstrated experience providing short-term/brief therapy and crisis intervention; Demonstrated experience working with a diverse group of clients and cultural backgrounds.

Preferred, but not required:

  • Education: Doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-accredited program. Degree must be granted prior to start date. Must be licensed in Pennsylvania. If currently licensed in another state, must be licensed in Pennsylvania within 12 months of hire.

  • Professional Work Experience: Two or more years providing therapy/counseling to BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) clients/patients. One or more years of experience working in a counseling center at an institution of higher education.

  • Knowledge Areas and Skills: Multiicultural competence and commitment to multicultural organization development; Demonstrated experience collaborating across disciplines and campus partners; Knowledge of models of prevention and health promotion and experience conducting community outreach; Strong consultation skills around critical mental health issues affecting students.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to move equipment and supplies weighing up to 30 pounds

  • Able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time; sit or stand at a computer and use a mouse/keyboard for long periods of time

  • Able to move about the office to access file cabinets and office equipment such as phones, copiers and printers

  • Able to work in an environment with a moderate level of interruptions

57,035.00-61,965.00

The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy. 

This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship at this time, all candidates must be authorized to work in the US at the time of submission of the application.
