👔 The Role
We’re looking for a talented Lead Protection Adviser to join our growing Advice team. This role will not only deliver tailored protection advice to our mortgage customers but will also take the lead in structuring, refining, and building our protection advice process. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that customers receive high-quality, compliant, and customer-centric protection solutions while helping us shape the way protection advice is delivered at Koodoo.
📲 Your Responsibilities
Customer Advice
- Deliver tailored, compliant advice by assessing clients’ personal, financial, and protection needs, ensuring recommendations are suitable and in line with FCA/TCF standards.
- Analyse and recommend protection solutions to fill gaps in cover and safeguard clients’ financial wellbeing.
- Maintain strong product and market knowledge, comparing providers to secure competitive and appropriate options for clients.
- Manage applications post-submission, including liaising with providers, and obtaining medical evidence etc.
Process Development
- Lead on structuring and building the end-to-end protection advice process.
- Work with the Head of Advice and the wider team to design scalable frameworks that ensure efficiency, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
- Identify opportunities to integrate technology and automation into the protection advice journey.
- Create and monitor KPIs for protection performance, including penetration rates, conversion ratios, and persistency.
Collaboration
- Partner closely with Mortgage Advisers to ensure seamless customer handover from mortgage to protection discussions.
- Share insights and feedback with internal stakeholders to improve systems, products, and customer journeys.
- Support the training and mentoring of new team members with Compliance as the protection advice team grows.
- Drive business growth by achieving protection sales targets, managing pipelines effectively, and ensuring high case conversion and persistency rates.
🎯 What You’ll Need
Essential:
- 3+ years’ experience as a Protection Adviser (or similar role) with a strong track record in sales and end-to-end case management.
- In-depth knowledge of protection products, underwriting requirements, provider processes, and compliance with FCA standards.
- Proven ability to design, implement, and optimise sales processes while managing pipeline and case progression independently.
- Excellent client communication skills, including clear advice delivery, objection handling, and relationship building.
- Organised and detail-focused, with strong risk awareness and ideally holding (or working towards) RO5 Financial Protection or equivalent.
Nice to have:
- Experience working in a start-up or high-growth environment.
- Previous experience in a lead or supervisory role, supporting the development of advisers or junior staff.
- Background in building or refining sales processes within a financial services environment.
- Familiarity with mortgage protection integration and working closely with mortgage advisers.
- Experience working with CRM/case management systems to track and optimise performance.
