  • Pitch original cross-platform ideas with strong angles that reflect i’s values of clarity, depth, and accessibility
  • Work closely with editors to develop fresh, agenda-setting content across a wide range of topics
  • Commission and edit freelance contributors, ensuring consistency of tone, accuracy, and flair
  • Contribute ideas for cover stories and support the team in shaping the overall edition each week
  • Collaborate across departments to ensure stories resonate on all platforms
  • Ensuring print output is mirrored across digital platforms
  • Uphold i’s commitment to impartial, high-quality journalism

The right candidate must have:

  • Experience writing and editing features for a national newspaper or magazine
  • A strong track record of producing engaging, well-researched features and interviews
  • Excellent editorial judgment and a strong nose for the kind of stories that drive weekend readership
  • Versatility and the ability to write across a range of topics
  • A clear, accessible writing style and attention to detail under pressure
  • Experience in digital publishing, and a willingness to learn and embrace new methods of storytelling

  • An ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced editorial environment
  • Strong organisational and planning skills
