GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The Accounting Manager oversees day-to-day accounting activities and manages the month-end close process. Working under the guidance of the EVP of Finance, assists with the preparation of monthly financial statements on a GAAP basis.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

In order of importance – Include frequency (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually, etc.)

  • Manage the daily operations of the Accounting Department
  • Manage the month-end and year-end close process
  • Prepare monthly general ledger account reconciliations for select accounts
  • Review and approve monthly account reconciliations, for accounts reconciled by others
  • Responsible for accounts receivable collection activities
  • Manage fixed asset accounting with external CPA firm
  • Review month-end financial statements for proper department/account coding
  • Internal control audit oversight of expense reporting
  • Oversight of sales tax reporting and compliance
  • Annual property tax reporting for various states
  • Assist EVP of Finance with complex accounting issues, as required
  • All other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • # of Direct Reports = 0
  • # of Indirect Reports = 0

EDUCATION & TRAINING

  • High school education required
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance and 5+ years accounting experience required, public accounting experience a plus

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Solid knowledge of GAAP and internal controls
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Good PC/computer skills
  • Clean driving record
  • Experience using office applications and other software related to the position 
  • Effective at handling multiple complex projects

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Exceptional customer service skills 
  • Effective customer and co-worker communication, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage time
  • Possess the ability to manage and research assignments independently
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently
