Description
The Cycle Counter is responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy through daily cycle counts and inventory audits at an automotive manufacturing facility. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the accuracy of materials used in a production environment by identifying discrepancies and contributing to corrective actions.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled cycle counts of materials in plant and off-site warehouses.
- Investigate inventory variances and reconcile discrepancies using ERP/MRP systems.
- Audit material locations on the production floor, warehouse, and quarantine areas.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records to support production planning and delivery schedules.
- Collaborate with Material Handlers, Shipping & Receiving, Production Control, and Quality teams to resolve inventory issues.
- Maintain relationships and communicate with all relevant associates and management.
- Support Production Control activities related to Engineering Changes, including inventory counting, quarantine and FIFO material, obsolete material disposition, and control of production break points.
- Escalate inventory issues that may impact production schedules or customer shipments to management.
- Assist in physical inventories and support preparation and execution of annual or quarterly full counts.
- Support activities with new model production ramp-up as well as end of life production ramp-down.
- Operate forklifts or other material handling equipment as needed (must be licensed or willing to certify).
- Other duties as assigned to support Production Control.
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
- Forklift certification preferred.
Preferred Experience:
- 1–3 years of inventory control or cycle counting experience in a manufacturing environment (automotive preferred).
- Familiarity with automotive supply chain practices such as Kanban, FIFO, and EDI.
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems; experience with barcode/RFID scanning tools a plus.
- Basic math skills and strong attention to detail.
- Great written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and follow standard work procedures with minimal supervision.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand or walk for extended periods.
