General Description
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport has an extensive system of wayfinding signs throughout the complex. The signage coordinator will maintain, monitor and update the airport’s signage system. Duties and responsibilities include applying proven design methods and standards to achieve aesthetically pleasing and architecturally enhancing solutions to the airport wayfinding signage system.

Supervision Received
Works under direct supervision of the Airport Sign Manager in the Operations Division of Regulatory Compliance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all inclusive: Designs, monitors, inspects, and troubleshoots in-house changes to the airport’s wayfinding signage system; reviews signage and graphics portion of airport construction projects; provides input to maintain consistency of the wayfinding signage system; manages and maintains all graphic and electronic files that support the airport’s wayfinding signage system; designs and executes unplanned emergency changes to the airport’s wayfinding signage system; inspects airport signage construction projects for quality assurance.


Leadership Provided
Serves as a technical resource or mentor to other employees; may lead or instruct less experienced staff; provides weekly updates to managers and signage team.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
This is a partial listing of necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job successfully. It is not an exhaustive list:

Knowledge of sign systems, products, software, and design best practices is critical; knowledge of airports and the aviation industry is a plus; skill in effectively communicating and interacting with management and other employees is a must; ability to keep abreast of any changes in policy, methods, operations, budgetary and equipment needs, etc. as they pertain to departmental operations. Position is Mac-based with extensive use of Adobe Creative Suite and other software specific to the Airport’s needs.

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in architecture, graphic design, industrial design, interior design, business or public administration, marketing or related field.
• 5-8 years' of progressively responsible experience in the design, management and implementation of large-scale facility signage and graphic systems using industry standard design tools required.

Licensures and Certifications 
None required.


Essential Capabilities and Work Environment
The position involves: physical, lifting, and sensory capabilities to perform the job successfully; weekly airport walk- throughs to inspect signs and report back to the Airport Sign Manager; collaborates with other staff on signage projects and tasks; frequent interaction and coordination with the Airport’s outside vendors; regular proximity with the general public; ability to drive to and from airport terminals and facilities with company vehicles; keeping of regular timesheets. This position is full-time with on-site offices at the Atlanta Airport Technical Campus.

Work Schedule:
This position follows the City’s hybrid work schedule policy as assigned by the Department of Human Resources Commissioner and requires in-person work at City worksites/facilities at least four (4) days per week, with the option to work remotely one (1) day per week, based on eligibility, departmental needs, and supervisor approval. The hybrid work schedule is subject to change at any time to five (5) days in-person work.
