The Director of Enterprise Applications is ultimately responsible for ensuring critical applications, such as Jenzabar, PowerFAIDS, CASHNet, SharePoint, Office 365, JICS/Jenzabar Mobile, Blackbaud, SLATE, Canvas, and Cascade function smoothly. This position works closely with various departments on campus to develop methods of analyzing and disseminating accurate and timely information based on data from these systems. The Director of Enterprise Applications will assist the AVP of Information Technology with daily and long-term strategic management of database integration within the organization. The Director of Enterprise Applications oversees all design, development, maintenance, integration, and enhancements to existing systems, both commercial off the shelf and developed in-house. The Director of Enterprise Applications is responsible for the application systems portfolio for the entire campus.
The Director of Enterprise Applications also assists with data research activities which impact the goals of the College, provides information to support institutional planning, policy formulation, and decision making.
Requirements
Essential Functions:
- Supervise and lead software development and support staff.
- Coordinate software upgrades and associated testing with relevant directors and staff.
- Oversee database security, including assigning permissions and developing audit trails, for SQL Server-based applications.
- Develop project timelines, oversee upgrades, deployment & testing of upgrades for Jenzabar, PowerFAIDS, CASHNet, JICS/e-Racer, and other internal applications.
- Develop and document maintenance, backup, and disaster recovery plans.
- Develop long-term training and professional development opportunities for direct reports, associated staff, and other university constituents.
- Assist with planning strategic IT related projects.
- Identify methods to reduce system downtime and improve redundancy.
- Identify opportunities for improved systems and process efficiency and implementing solutions that deliver results.
- Work with departments to identify and implement methods of improving existing workflows and use of data to make strategic decisions.
- Manage the day-to-day operations for our various databases and applications.
- Write and manage custom SQL code for automations and software integrations.
- Write and manage custom reports using SSRS, Datazen and other reporting tools as necessary.
- Work with Director of Institutional Research and various department heads to create data standards and reports.
- Document and Analyze processes across campus and help create new electronic processes where time and cost savings are possible.
- Primary Support for CANVAS LMS system during online terms (including during break, to provide 24/7 support).
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management, Information Systems or related field. Experience and professional certifications may be accepted in lieu of college degree. Master’s degree preferred.
Experience: 3-5 years of related professional experience working with Jenzabar or a similar student information system (SIS) or customer relationship management (CRM) software with some supervisory experience, can work with a variety of academic faculty and administrative staff, previous work experience in higher education highly preferred.
Skills:
· Ability to work independently and lead a small team
· Knowledge of SQL language, web servers, local area networks, and SQL applications
· Knowledge of systems architecture, architectural best-practices, and enterprise application design and integration
· Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
