The Role
We're looking for a Sales Development Representative to support the Head of New Business with all aspects of business development as a first hire in this function.
In this role your focus will be on helping us build out two of our latest distribution channels: partnering with independent financial adviser (IFA) firms and employers with our benefits packages. These are both multimillion pound channels with massive potential for growth and you’ll develop an understanding of multiple key parts of our business.
You'll be the first person in this team, helping with all aspects of the sales process, both B2B and D2C focused. This also means that as we continue to build and scale the team, your career path can accelerate rapidly. You'll take ownership of prospecting and outreach, reacting to inbound interest, setting up meetings, and helping book IFA clients in for appointments - you’ll have real autonomy with your day to day.
Whether it’s guiding employers through our benefits packages or walking advisers through our proposition, you’ll work hand-in-hand with both IFAs and HR and benefits teams to embed Octopus Legacy’s services where they can make the most difference. You’ll be able to up-skill across industries and grow a diverse professional network.
This is a chance to join our team at a pivotal growth moment, with the opportunity to help shape our proposition, scale our team, and be part of our ambition to be the go-to partner for organisations in these spaces.

- Acting as a key point of contact between our business and our partners, being exposed to many of the internal moving parts of our business
- Play a major role in building and scaling the both the IFA and employer partnerships team

Who Are You?
- Some experience in sales processes, with a track record of managing multiple stakeholders and working across varied industries
- Skilled in building trusted, consultative relationships that lead to growth in revenue and value
- Hungry to become an expert about in multiple industries and organisations, as well as our products and services
- Comfortable balancing account management with a commercial mindset, spotting sales opportunities without compromising service
- Proficient in using CRM tools such as HubSpot for managing accounts and pipelines
- Collaborative and proactive, with the ability to work cross-functionally and build new processes from scratch
Our Mission
In 2016 Sam’s mum died suddenly in a car accident. The experience that followed was overwhelming - with mountains of paperwork, sitting on hold and navigating financial stress. All at a time when he needed the space to navigate grief.
Death is difficult enough, without everything else that comes with it. Octopus Legacy was created to make the experience of losing someone easier for those left behind - so that they can focus on what matters.
Since then we have helped over 700,000 people plan for death and find support after a loss and are now the second largest estate planner in the UK.
When people think about planning for death they think about wills, life insurance and funerals. These small but mighty acts make a huge difference to the people we love. But why stop there?
We take these cold processes and turn them into something more human. We help customers share more than just money. Encouraging them to leave voice notes, music, recipes. So they can shape a legacy that connects them with the people they love while they’re here. And after they’re gone.
