Are you passionate about creating nutritious meals and supporting a vibrant community of children and staff? South Coast Baptist College is searching for a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to join our team and play a key role in fostering a welcoming, functional environment for our childcare centre. If you thrive in a collaborative, faith-driven setting and have a knack for food service and hygiene, we want to hear from you!
As a Kitchen Assistant, you will be instrumental in:
- Preparing and serving delicious, healthy meals and snacks tailored to diverse dietary needs.
- Upholding impeccable standards of food safety and hygiene.
- Performing essential cleaning tasks, including dishwashing, floor mopping, and maintaining spotless food preparation areas.
- Managing food supplies and ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and guidelines.
- Contributing to a positive, collaborative work environment and building strong relationships with children and families.
- Supporting a culture of continuous improvement and participating in professional development activities.
Position Requirements:
- Relevant Qualifications: Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (Desirable), food service and handling certificates, understanding of FSANZ Code, and a current First Aid qualification (ACECQA guidelines).
- Experience & Skills: Proven experience in preparing nutritious meals, knowledge of food safety and hygiene, and the ability to manage food supplies effectively.
- Organizational Ability: Strong time management skills and the capability to perform duties within time constraints.
- Teamwork & Independence: Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Training & Compliance: Competency in providing food safety training and maintaining compliance with statutory regulations and QIAS.
- Personal Qualities: Commitment to our Christian values, strong communication skills, and the ability to build supportive relationships with staff, children, and parents.
Essential Criteria:
- To have a personal faith and commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ.
- To actively be a part of a Church or Christian community and exemplify Christian beliefs, behaviour, and practices.
- To accept the College’s Statement of Faith.
- Build co-operative and supportive relationships with the board, principal, staff, students and parents.
- Work to ensure personal best practice.
- Ensure that decision making is based on fact and is impartial and fair.
- Model the use of appropriate and proper channels of communication.
- Always act in the best interest of the College and its ethos.
- Adhering to all policies and procedures outlined by SCBC.
- First Aid certificate is desirable.
- Working With Children Card.
