The Jail Services Counselor is part of a multi-disciplinary team, providing behavioral health services to clients in the Butler County jail. These services are provided within the guidelines established by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services and the Joint Commission. The position assures compliances with standards in the areas of assessment, treatment planning, and service provision. The jail services team is responsible for directly providing needed assessment, treatment/rehabilitation, and support services to clients. The counselor will collaborate with the management team to ensure quality services are delivered to clients.
This position provides behavioral health services to a population that may include adults or geriatrics. These clients may also undergo treatment for co-occurring diagnoses. The counselor must be able to demonstrate knowledge and competency in service provision – including assessment, treatment planning, continued stay evaluation, and education. This position must also work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team.
Responsibilities:- Conduct intake assessments and render treatment recommendations.
- Conduct group, individual, and/or family counseling.
- Provide community psychiatric supportive treatment to include, but not limited to monitoring, support, resource allocation, education, and crisis intervention.
- Complete documentation in accordance with agency policy standards.
- Prepare accurate written reports/correspondence for referral sources and other relevant parties as needed.
- Ability to follow guidelines and protocols established by the Butler County Jail
- Maintain adherence to all ethical and legal standards of practice.
- Establish and maintain productivity standards per calendar year.

Education: Bachelors Degree required;
Licenses or other required certifications: LCDC II, LCDC III, LSW, LPC, MFT, LICDC, LISW, IMFT or LPCC.
Experience: Prefer two years experience providing SUD or MH services in an outpatient setting. Previous experience with criminal justice system preferred.
Specialized knowledge, skills, or abilities: Strong clinical skills to include knowledge and use of the DSM. Strong commitment to client rights. Skills and competence to establish supportive and trusting therapeutic relationships. Skills and knowledge regarding co-occurring disorders.
