We are looking for a self-motivated, strategic, team player with sales experience in the world of construction as well as ability to estimate/quote jobs to work with our people, our manufacturers, and the area’s leading contractors and distributors to deliver top-quality products, technical support, and service. Major functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing mutually beneficial relationships with electrical and general contractors so Mercer Zimmerman is the agency of choice for lighting and controls products and services.
  • Providing service and support to customers during design, construction, and post-project completion.
  • Partnering with Project Managers to create submittals and conduct pre-construction meetings.
  • Conducting technical and product training in the territory or at our manufacturers’ facilities.
  • Working in a team environment to analyze and bid jobs based on a tight timeline.
  • Preparing budget estimates to meet clients' lighting/lighting controls needs.
  • Problem solving while accurately utilizing, maintaining, and tracking project data.

The ideal candidate for this job will:

  • Have construction industry knowledge and experience reading project documents, including drawings, schedules, and submittals.
  • Bring the ability to work on a strict timeline and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrate exceptional negotiation skills with the ability to interact effectively with clients.
  • Possess a team-first attitude.
  • Be an effective communicator – both written and verbal.
  • Have strong relationship-building and relationship management skills.
  • Build trust through honesty, integrity, and follow-through.
  • Possess a high level of comfort interacting with every level of an organization from top-level executives to field personnel.
  • Be able to operate with a minimal amount of supervision.
  • Have proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software.

Education and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a related field is preferred, but not required.
  • 3-5 years of related experience in the construction/electrical field is a plus.
