POSITION FUNCTION:
The Branch Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of branch operations, sales performance, customer engagement, and compliance adherence. This role requires a balance of strategic oversight and hands-on leadership, with an emphasis on driving business growth, enhancing customer relationships, and ensuring operational excellence. The Branch Manager oversees the Assistant Branch Manager and Relationship Banker and is accountable for branch profitability, customer satisfaction, and risk management. This full-time, exempt position reports to the VP, Head of Retail Banking & Sales.
Key Responsibilities:Sales, Business Development & Relationship Management
- Develop and execute sales initiatives to achieve revenue and growth targets
- Build and maintain relationships with key clients, conducting business development calls and meetings
- Lead branch-wide sales efforts, setting performance goals and coaching staff on sales techniques
- Utilize CRM tools and analytics to track customer needs and sales opportunities
- Organize and participate in community and business networking events to increase market presence
Customer Transactions & Service
- Oversee daily branch operations, ensuring a seamless customer experience and efficient service delivery
- Resolve escalated customer issues promptly while maintaining professionalism and compliance
- Implement strategies to improve customer engagement and retention
Account Maintenance & Banking Systems
- Manage core banking systems, ensuring accuracy in account maintenance and client data
- Leverage customer relationship management (CRM) tools to identify business development opportunities
- Monitor performance metrics and operational efficiency to ensure alignment with bank objectives
Community Engagement & Brand Awareness
- Promote the bank’s presence through participation in CRA initiatives, community events, and sponsorships
- Act as a brand ambassador by engaging in local business networking and financial education efforts
- Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to implement branch-specific promotional campaigns
Cash Handling & Operational Compliance
- Supervise all aspects of cash handling, including vault management, ATM balancing, and cash controls
- Ensure compliance with security protocols, fraud prevention measures, and internal risk policies
- Conduct regular branch audits and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements
Compliance, Security & Risk Management
- Ensure branch compliance with BSA, AML, and other regulatory policies
- Oversee vendor management, security measures, and branch audit procedures
- Identify and mitigate operational risks, ensuring adherence to compliance and security guidelines
Staff Training, Development & Leadership
- Recruit, train, and develop branch employees to ensure high performance and career growth
- Provide regular coaching, feedback, and mentorship to build a strong, customer-focused team
- Conduct performance evaluations and implement development plans for branch staff
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field; MBA preferred
- 8-15 years of progressive banking experience, including at least 5 years in branch management
- Proven expertise in managing client relationships, executing sales strategies, and overseeing banking operations
- In-depth knowledge of risk management, compliance, security protocols, and audit procedure
Skills
- Strong leadership abilities, including coaching, mentoring, and performance management
- Proficient in banking software, CRM systems, and financial data analysis
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
- High level of integrity, problem-solving abilities, and decision-making capabilities
Licenses & Certifications
- Active NMLS registration and licensing
- Notary Public certification
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Frequent movement within the branch to manage staff and interact with clients
- Continuous use of computers, phones, and office equipment
- Occasional lifting of objects up to 20 lbs., such as supplies and promotional materials
- Infrequent travel to regional offices or external events
