What You'll Do:

In the Facilities Technician role, you'll be responsible for the repairs and maintenance of all agency facilities to ensure facilities remain presentable, operable and in efficient condition. Responsible for performing routine building maintenance, general cleaning, and maintaining a safe and secure living and working environment for clients, staff and visitors.

  • Inspects buildings and other structures to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions and needed repair
  • Responds to emergency requests for repair services and acts as the primary point of contact for all building issues (e.g. climate control, odors, smoke, spills, damage, emergencies and repairs, etc.); perform immediate cleaning duties as necessary
  • Performs minor electrical maintenance to include but not limited to replacement or repair of fixtures (e.g. wall switches and outlets, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and tubes, ballast, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords, etc.) using appropriate hand, power and specialty tools
  • Performs minor plumbing maintenance (e.g. replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, replacing drain hoses on washers and similar devices, etc.)
  • Performs minor painting, carpentry and masonry work (e.g. preparing surfaces and using brush, sprayer, or roller to apply paints, stains, and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.)
  • Prepares surfaces and paint various structures and equipment (e.g. walls, refrigerators, floors, roofs, doors, restroom facilities, etc.) to preserve wood and metal parts from corrosion and maintain a safe, comfortable environment using various painting equipment and related tools
  • Makes residential units ready for new move-ins (e.g. dismantles and installs furniture, hangs pictures and shelves, and cleans rooms, hallways, and living spaces)
  • Ensures work conducted complies with all environmental, health and safety, standards established by federal, states, county and city laws, ordinances and regulations, and Interfaith policies and procedures
  • Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, restrooms, corridors, stairways, parking lots, and other work areas as necessary
  • Orders parts and maintain required documents
  • Maintains storage and equipment in designated areas in a neat and orderly manner
  • Promptly notifies supervisor (as well as other appropriate staff) of any problematic facilities issues, or any other problems that arise
  • Participates in all staff meetings and trainings
  • Ensures that properties always meet standards to pass Federal, State, County, and Local inspections
  • Performs additional duties as assigned 

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of general facility maintenance work experience, required

SKILLSETS / ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Remains on-call outside of normal working hours for emergency requests on a rotational schedule
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional boundaries with clients
  • Proficiency in electrical, plumbing and carpentry
  • Proper use and maintenance of hand and power tools
  • Knowledge of applicable safety rules and procedures
  • Knowledge of building and safety codes and regulations
  • Ability to identify problems, and research and recommend solutions
  • Ability to assess emergency situations and respond effectively
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be highly organized and demonstrate attention to detail
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple deadlines and working effectively under pressure, using independent judgment to produce quality work under time constraints
  • Demonstrated experience working with a collaborative team
  • Working Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Ability to communicate effectively among a diverse workforce population and maintain sound working relations with all levels within the organization
  • Work with spirit of enthusiasm, teamwork, cooperation and a sense of urgency
  • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality over all matters in the course of business operations including client and employee information
  • Ability to multi-task in an efficient, thorough, and prioritized manner

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and have a clean driving record for insurability under the agency’s insurance carrier’s standards

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to perform manual work associated with building and facilities maintenance and repairs
  • Exposure to unpleasant and noxious fumes, odors, dust, temperatures, noise and inclement weather
  • Must have the physical ability to sit for long periods of time, stand, walk, bend, kneel and uses hands, arms and legs for dexterity and balance on a frequent basis
  • Ability to grab, hold, bend and twist a wide range of tools, equipment and materials
  • Ability to climb ladder and step ladder
  • Occasionally lifts, carries and balances objects weighing up 90 pounds
  • Pulls and pushes such objects as file drawers, computers and similar office equipment and supplies
  • May be subjected to adverse conditions, including contact from hostile people
  • Exposure to contagious diseases (hepatitis, HIV, tuberculosis, etc.)
  • Prioritizes and multi-tasks work and projects requiring good memory, concentration and analytical thinking
  • Occasionally is required to perform the safe operation of a vehicle, office equipment and machines, and recognize and abate safety hazards within the workplace

  • Must be able to hear, see including distinction of colors, read and communicate verbally and in writing frequently with a wide range of people from divergent socio-economic backgrounds and origins
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate

Location: Onsite/Escondido


Hourly Rate: $26.00-$26.75


Hours: Monday-Friday: 8:00am-4:30pm
