Align Production Systems is seeking a hands-on, balanced Director of Sales and Marketing who can both lead from the front in winning Engineer-to-Order (ETO) work and build a disciplined, accountable sales organization.
This role is central to our growth. You will be expected to:
- Engage directly in high-value deals, earning the trust and respect of the sales team by demonstrating excellence in ETO sales leadership.
- Build accountability across expense management, CRM usage, negotiating, and purchase order review.
- Drive growth initiatives and sales operations discipline without losing sight of the ultimate goal—winning profitable deals and building backlog.
With over 50 years of innovation, Align is a leader in heavy industrial automation—working with aerospace, automotive, construction machinery, electrical, and general manufacturing customers. We engineer and manufacture custom production solutions—including advanced AGV systems—that enhance efficiency, safety, and productivity. We design it, we manufacture it, and we support it.
At Align, leadership is rooted in three principles: Create Clarity, Generate Energy, and Deliver Results. The right candidate will embody these principles, balancing front-line sales leadership with the discipline to scale our business for long-term success.
Key Responsibilities
Lead from the Front in ETO Sales
- Personally engage in and support complex, engineer-to-order sales pursuits.
- Model strong deal-making skills, including negotiation, application understanding, and order performance.
- Coach the sales team through ETO best practices, showing how to win work while building customer trust.
Build Sales Accountability & Discipline
- Enforce CRM usage, sales process discipline, and pipeline visibility.
- Drive accountability in expense management, purchase order review, and deal profitability.
- Ensure sales processes are consistent, scalable, and aligned with growth initiatives.
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute a sales and marketing strategy that balances short-term wins with long-term expansion.
- Align the sales, estimation, application development, and post-sales support teams to drive results across the customer lifecycle.
- Partner with marketing to build campaigns and materials that support brand awareness, lead generation, and sales execution.
Team Development & Culture
- Lead a North American remote sales team with clarity, energy, and results.
- Balance performance expectations with an engaging, supportive culture that retains talent and builds future leaders.
- Foster collaboration across sales, engineering, operations, and service teams to ensure success on every order.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, or related field (MBA preferred).
- 10+ years of experience leading sales in industrial/capital equipment, ideally with ETO exposure.
- Proven success leading teams in both sales execution (closing deals, growing backlog) and sales operations (process, accountability, CRM discipline).
- Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Demonstrated ability to simplify complex challenges into actionable strategies.
- Experience leading remote and cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in CRM and sales analytics tools.
Preferred:
- Direct experience in ETO or capital equipment industries.
- Deep knowledge of North American industrial markets.
What Success Looks Like in This Role

- Deals are being won and backlog is strong.
- Sales processes, CRM adoption, and accountability are visible and consistent.
- The sales organization is scaling effectively—we’re growing not just by hustle, but by disciplined execution.
