Many years ago, Lam Research embarked on a journey to set up a global center in Bangalore to expand its reach for Indian talent pool. Over the decade, this center expanded its capability and scope beyond engineering to global manufacturing, supply chain operations and other shared services. One of the major functional groups of this entity is LIGHT (Lam India Global Hardware Technology). In Hardware group, mechanical engineers, simulation analysts, electrical engineers, manufacturing engineers, and engineering support functions work collaboratively to design, develop sub-assemblies and sub-systems for Lam’s next-generation products. LIGHT has completed more than a decade of growth and has emerged as a major new product development and sustaining engineering team for Lam’s global engineering footprint.
There is an opening for the role of Electrical Engineering “Electrical Engineer, Sr”. This position is based out of Bangalore, directly reporting to the leader of WETS (Wet Equipment Technology Solutions) Electrical Engineering team of LIGHT. This individual shall collaborate with engineers in India, Europe and United States and on new product development of WETS product lines.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Bachelors in Electrical /Electronics Engineering with minimum 4 years exp. Or Masters in Electrical/Electronics Engineering with minimum 2 years exp.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop Functional Requirement Specifications for various Electro-Mechanical systems.
- Selection of Electrical & Electronics OEM components and materials for Power distribution, I/O Controllers, Sensors, Cables, PCBs etc.
- Create and Release system level Electrical engineering drawings & bill of materials using Engineering Change Management process.
- Work on Electrical/Electronic engineering CAD tools for circuit design & simulations.
- Perform various circuit analyses like De-rating & Stress analysis, Power analysis & Logic compatibility analysis etc.
- Study and recommend corrective/improvement solutions for technical challenges/new products.
- Well versed with Part life cycle management, Obsolescence management activities.
- Conduct and drive Design reviews to get buy-in from all cross functional teams.
Mandatory skills and experience required to perform the job:
- Proficient in system level understanding of Electro-Mechanical sub-systems (Semi-conductor/Automotive/Aerospace), Power & Control systems and/or Industrial automation
- Proficient in designing sensor interfaces for IO controllers (Analog & Digital IO’s)
- Experience in Electrical & Electronic Circuit design (Low/High Voltage) with interlocks & various circuit analyses.
- Proficient in translating design requirements into parameters for OEM component selection.
- Aptitude to solve electrical/electronic engineering problems using prototype/ testing/simulation tools.
- Hands-on experience in Low/High Voltage Electrical & Electronic circuit designs for Power and Control applications.
- Must have worked on any one of electrical engineering CAD tools like PCAD, ORCAD, ZUKEN E3S, Cadence or equivalent CAD packages for circuit design & simulation.
- Familiar with Safety standards like - UL 508, IEC 60947, SEMI S22, NFPA79.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience in Semiconductor Wafer Fab Equipment (WFE) domain.
- Experience with capital equipment or similar (for e.g., Semiconductor, Process industries, medical instrumentation, Automotive, Aerospace, etc.) industry in a sub-system / module design project.
- Experience in selection of components, setting up equipment for experimentation / testing in laboratory environment, setting up safe practices.
- Knowledge in Engineering Change & Configuration Management Process.
- Good Communication skills.

Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
