ABOUT THE ROLE

Are you a passionate individual looking for a rewarding role?

 

The Women and Girls Experience Coordinator (in Victoria) will help deliver Victoria’s strategic actions and initiatives as part of the AFL Women & Girls Game Development Action Plan as it relates to coaching, umpiring, volunteering and club development.

 

The Women & Girls Game Development Action Plan, first developed in 2022, is a strategic initiative aimed at achieving gender equity in Australian football by 2030. It focuses on increasing participation and representation of women and girls across all facets of the game, including playing, coaching, umpiring, officiating, and governance. The plan is structured in phases, with Phase 2 of the plan covering 2026 - 2028. The plan aligns with the broader Women's Football Vision, which outlines the AFL's commitment to the continued progression of the game for women and girls across all levels of Australian football.

 

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF

Key Accountabilities:

  • Support the Experience Lead in managing the Women & Girls Community Football Charter,
  • ensuring uptake of the program by community clubs, leagues & umpire groups
  • Support clubs, leagues & umpire groups to implement their action plans and drive positive
  • improvements in the community football environment
  • Facilitate club, league & umpire education modules (i.e. Gender Equity, Governance, Inclusive
  • Marketing, etc.) and programs that upskill women in community football leadership positions (e.g. Lead Your Way)
  • Deliver targeted initiatives that increase the number of women in Community Football Leadership positions, particularly president & vice president roles
  • Support the State Coaching Lead in the planning and delivery of Coach Your Way programs to increase the number of women in coach
  • Work with the State Coaching Lead in managing the Women & Girls Coach Developers
  • Support the State Umpiring Lead in the planning and delivery of Umpire Your Way come & try days, and other initiatives that increase the number of women in Umpiring
  • Work with State Umpiring Lead in managing the Women & Girls Umpire Liaisons
  • Contribute to key projects related to the Women & Girls Game Development Action Plan
  • Support and contribute to the success of the broader Game Development tea
