Background/General Purpose of Position:
Unilever is one of the key Personal Care manufacturers in the UKI, with some of the category’s largest and most loved brands, including Lynx – the UK’s largest male toiletries brand.
Since 1985, Lynx has kept UK men smelling great, by influencing UK culture – driving brand talkability and fame, with some iconic advertising and premium innovation with the launch of Lynx Fine Fragrance Collection.
To continue to build this great brand, we have a new opening for a Marketing Manager to lead the Lynx brand across the UK & Ireland, responsible for the delivery of the Lynx plan across key customers, deploying our much-loved innovation and outstanding communication: making the brand unmissable amongst UK guys and working collaboratively with the global team to create a strong innovation/renovation funnel to continue to grow the brand in the future
The successful candidate will have a passion for the consumer and evidence they can bring brilliant marketing execution and strong commercial acumen to a high performing team. You will play a critical role leading one of the UK Personal Care’s largest brands, alongside a wider position as part of the UK and EU deodorants marketing team.
The role reports to the UKI Deodorants Category Director and interacts with other key senior stakeholders.
This is a 12months opportunity, subject to renewal
Main responsibilities:
Drive category growth through commercial delivery
Lead the commercial delivery of the brand and continuously understand ongoing business performance of key segments, monitoring competitor activity and measuring return on marketing investment.
With Customer Development, lead key retailer meetings, to build successful customer relationships and drive category growth.
Input into brand annual planning process with Customer Development colleagues.
Partner with the UKI gifting lead to drive further brand experience and penetration.
Commercial
Own internal relationship between brand and Customer Development for key accounts, assisting key account teams with the commercial delivery and deployment of in year priorities and performance tracking.
Generate best in class, social first brand experiences through Paid, Owned & Earned Media
Lead the annual media planning process and briefing of the all-agency team.
Brief the lead creative agency on locally led and relevant campaign assets as part of the paid media plan.
Regularly liaise with global communications teams on short and long-term opportunities to drive
Supporting the briefing and facilitation of best-in-class instore shopper marketing to embed key brand messages at the point of purchase, supporting wider brand activation plans.
Innovation development and Deployment
Partner with Lynx global team and Deodorant EU category lead to develop a strong 12QP
Lead the deployment of multi-year innovation, including wider activation plans, to drive penetration and market share.
Own business case development for all future innovations, aligning them to the long-term brand strategy and business expectations.
As a lead design market, supply global colleagues with local market insights to help shape a successful innovation funnel
Alongside Customer Strategy Planning team, lead local NRM initiatives across both categories (deodorants and skin cleansing).
Lead & Inspire a Brand marketing team and support Deodorant marketing director
Management of a team of 4 to support on the above workplan.
Lead wider external all-agency team

Candidates should also have strong creativity with proven track record of turning insights into action, with strong entrepreneurial skills and project management experience. The individual is expected to exercise judgment in coordinating and implementing various projects to completion under tight deadlines and to be able to lead a portfolio of projects and influence others.

Recruitment Fraud
Cyber criminals advertise fake job adverts with prestigious employers as a way of stealing information or even defrauding individuals out of money. In the most sophisticated cases, they will set up fake websites, which have a similar address to companies like Unilever. They even conduct fake telephone interviews and then offer candidates a role with the proviso they pay a fee for background checks or to cover work visa costs. These types of attacks are becoming more common as more people are looking for employment in the economic climate.
How is Unilever tackling this?
Many of Unilever’s recruitment sites publish a warning to candidates about recruitment fraud. The Cyber Security team also proactively scan for signs of people setting up fake Unilever sites and act to close them down.
