About the role
Professional learning plays a key role in the organization’s mission and overall More IB Strategy. IB Professional Learning team aims to expand the reach of the IB mission by increasing access to IB professional learning, fostering closer relationships with schools, educators, and leaders throughout their learning journey, expanding beyond the IB market, building educator and school capabilities, and increasing the volume and scale of our portfolio of products to meet the evolving needs of our learners. The Professional Learning Design and Production team will achieve this through customer-centric and data-driven design, design principles, agile and scaled design and development processes. As a thought leader in the industry, we aim to leverage technology to design, develop, and deliver content and in applying research-informed, next practices within the industry.
This role will focus on leading the Professional Learning Services Design and Development department to ensure effectiveness, coherence, efficiency, and alignment of services and products to the market, programme, and IB business needs. This will involve a transformation of current products and services that develop the capabilities of various roles within an education ecosystem, across multiple product and service types, across multiple modes of delivery and modalities. This role will also be accountable for establishing a new consultancy service that will support government and groups develop their teacher workforce and capabilities across the ecosystem. It also includes developing the screening and orientation of IB Educators within the IB Educator network. This involves coordinated planning of a $4 million development budget with product management team, ensuring all products and services are delivered according to specifications, within budget, and on time.
Responsibilities
- Accountable for the strategic vision of professional learning system design, which includes learning architecture and learning experience design in order to transform the Professional Learning ecosystem and deliver the Professional Learning Strategy.
- Lead and coordinate design teams in setting the systematic approaches to data-driven design to ensure designs deliver the data that will provide business intelligence, product performance, optimization intel, etc.
- Lead team in the streamline of operations, asset and offering production processes, and management of team capacity to increase team productivity, reduce speed to market, and deliver products on time.
- Lead the team in leveraging technology (e.g., AI, LMS, LXP, CMS, DAM) and data to improve process efficiency and effectiveness of learning experiences
- Accountable for the establishment and implementation of technical aspects of Professional Learning consultancy services to expand access to IB pedagogies
- Lead IB PL in thought leadership to raise awareness of IB PL beyond the IB community.
- Establish and support a culture of inclusion, innovation, customer-centricity, and an adaptive mindset.
- Manage the performance of direct reports, ensuring a continuous level of support and coaching with suggestions for development that leverages a wide-range of resources.
- Designing and developing a suite of professional learning products and services for multiple personas and markets across product types is highly complex, so all decision-making must consider all aspects of the PL ecosystem while paying attention to maintaining costs and delivering high volume of PL content at scale. This role has accountability that the portfolio of designs align to the customer specifications as outlined by the product management and deliver on the ROI, the brand and quality expected of IB PL.
Qualifications
About you
- Experience transforming a professional learning design and production teams for talent, operations, and design from in-person workshop model to a full digital delivery ecosystem
- Expertise and extensive experience in learning sciences applied in professional learning as well as principle assessment design or Evidence Centred Design as a bonus
- Extensive experience leading all content design and production aspects of a digital transformation while maintaining in-person services
- Extensive experience setting requirements, configuring, and managing LMS, CMS, DAM operations
- Experience leading and shaping a consultancy service to develop educator capabilities (leader and educators) through pre-service and/or in-service opportunities
- Experience leading design and production for coordinating design of informal and formal learning, learning ecosystem design and learning experience design
- Robust knowledge of all aspects of education system, specifically pre-service teacher training, post-service professional learning, leadership development, system policy to support teachers, teaching, and professional learning
- Extensive change management experience with excellent communication skills, strategic thinking, and execution of change roadmaps
- Experience managing a global team in a matrix structure, experience transitioning a team into a matrix structure is desired
- Experience with inclusive leadership and excellent decision-making for work allocation
- Expertise in translating content strategy, design principles, production operations to platform product managers
- Experience with content design and development using SCORM and xAPI standards and other more modular forms of content design
