Job Details:

This position is responsible for ensuring the health, welfare, and performance of poultry flocks through effective management practices, environmental optimization, and team member training. Key responsibilities include consulting with all levels of poultry operations on preventative and therapeutic health strategies, educating team members on poultry husbandry, physiology, and biosecurity, and ensuring compliance with all agricultural regulations related to flock health, disease control programs, and bird movement.

Additional duties include maintaining and improving flock health and biosecurity programs; coordinating the procurement of medications, vaccines, and health-related equipment; evaluating external breeding stock for health and production concerns; conducting farm visits to assess health issues and product usage; supporting research initiatives; and performing other duties as needed to support the overall health and productivity of the poultry operation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and maintaining flock health and biosecurity programs aligned with Cobb’s global standards.

  • Coordinating procurement of vaccines, medications, and health-related equipment to support genetic potential and welfare.

  • Evaluating external breeding stock for health and performance risks, contributing to Cobb’s commitment to genetic integrity.

  • Conducting farm visits to assess health challenges, product usage, and environmental conditions.

  • Collaborating on research initiatives that support Cobb’s innovation and sustainability goals.

  • Educating team members to enhance operational excellence and ensure alignment with Cobb’s core values: family, integrity, innovation, and being the best.

This role plays a critical part in delivering on Cobb’s promise to provide healthy, affordable, and sustainable protein to a growing global population.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education:  Doctoral degree (DVM). MAM or equivalent post DVM program preferred. Must be able to obtain licensure and accreditation in the US.

Experience: Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in poultry health management and veterinary services, preferably within a genetics or integrated poultry production environment.

Computer Skills: Proficient in standard business software applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel).

Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information to diverse audiences including farm personnel, technical teams, and senior leadership.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Travel Requirements: domestic travel is required; some international travel may be required.
