An excellent opportunity exists to work for a government contractor with competitive compensation and work-life balance. Posterity Group is seeking experienced Medical Laboratory Technician for the Keesler AFB in Biloxi, MS.
Duties Include but are not limited to:
- Collecting and preparing samples for testing
- Performing routine laboratory tests and procedures
- Operating and maintaining laboratory equipment
- Recording and analyzing test results
- Maintaining accurate and detailed laboratory records
- Participating in quality assurance and quality control procedures
- Adhering to safety protocols and guidelines
- Communicating test results to physicians and other healthcare professionals
- Assisting in the development and implementation of new lab procedures
- Calibrating and troubleshooting lab instruments
- Ensuring the cleanliness and organization of the lab area
- Monitoring inventory and ordering lab supplies
- Training and supervising lab assistants or interns
Medical Laboratory Technician Necessary Information:
- Will be assigned to the Blood Donor Center on Blood Drive days and the Main Laboratory on days they are not needed in the Blood Donor Center.
- When assigned to the Blood Donor Center: The normal duty schedule for personnel, apart from blood drive days, is Monday through Friday with a 9- hour workday between the hours of 0700-1800, to include a 1-hour non-billable lunch.
- Blood Drives. During blood drive days, the duty schedule will vary. Contract personnel will be scheduled a 9-hour workday between the hours of 0300-2359, to include a 1- hour non-billable lunch, on scheduled blood drive days. There will be approximately two to four drives per week. Depending on blood donor turnout (during blood drives), lunches may be delayed to meet military contingency needs. Periodic travel is required for other than local blood drives, which may include multiple days at TDY locations.
Requirements
- Experience in a clinical laboratory setting
- Proficiency with laboratory information systems (LIS)
- Advanced knowledge of laboratory safety protocols
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Experience with specialized laboratory tests or equipment
- Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field
