Department: Furniture Prep

Shift: Various shifts from 5am-10pm

Reports to: Assistant Warehouse Manager

 

Job Summary:

The Furniture Prep Manager will coach the Furniture Preparation Technicians and Leads to assemble inventory, and hard mark merchandise prior to being loaded for delivery. This individual will also coordinate and communicate with the Furniture Repair department to make sure all merchandise has been repaired and is ready for delivery. The Furniture Prep Lead will coordinate and work with Warehouse Management, Furniture Prep Technicians, Customer Service, and Deliveries to process and complete merchandise that has been added to or canceled from the delivery routes. The ideal Furniture Prep Manager develops strategies to improve operations, increases profitability, motivates employees, and strives to set goals to ensure continuous improvement. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

 

Typical duties include but are not limited to: 

  • Oversee all operations of the Furniture Prep department including but not limited to Technicians and Leads. 
  • Manage staff of 5+ employees at any given time 
  • Recruit and hire quality employees to meet the needs of business
  • Evaluate employees based on performance and other metrics
  • Create schedules, approve payroll, and assign duties to employees as necessary
  • Develop strategies for better workplace efficiency and goal achievement 
  • Coordinate training of new employees and ensure that current employees are receiving ongoing training. 
  • Run reports such as unsampled, source location report, sales reports, etc. 
  • Ensure we maintain a safe working environment for employees and remain compliant with all OSHA and DOT regulations for the facility.
  • Maintain warehouse cleanliness to avoid damage of products entering and leaving the facility
  • Provide input on labor needs based on workflow and direction from upper management
  • Complete accurate warehouse productivity reports for upper management
  • Improve the operational systems, processes, and policies in support of the organizational mission
  • Recommend tools, fixtures, equipment, or layout changes to improve workflow, productivity, and quality of employee performances.
  • Liaise between managers, customers, and employees.
  • And all other duties assigned by the Warehouse Manager, Regional Manager, Facility Manager, C.E.O, President, or Operations Manager as directed.

 

Compensation Package: 

Pay rate: Starting at $26.00/hour

 

Supervision Given and Received:

This position supervises 5+ employees at any given time. This position is supervised directly by Warehouse Management.

 

Required Skills/Abilities: 

 

  • Ability to become certified in the operation of warehouse equipment. 
  • Ability to be trained on the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Prior experience operating warehouse equipment, such as forklift, pallet jack and cherry picker helpful but not required.
  • Have a strong independent work ethic.
  • Excellent organizational skill and the ability to demonstrate attention to detail, and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks when appropriate.
  • Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on AFW’s success
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.

Computer Skills: 

Advanced computer skills required. Proficiency in Outlook, Excel, Word, and Microsoft Suite.

 

Certificates and Licenses: 

None required. Business and Safety certifications/licenses preferred. 

 

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or GED is preferred.; equivalent combination of education and experience accepted in lieu of diploma.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Requires the ability to maneuver in confined and at times congested areas. 
  • Requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, & bend for 8 hours a day.
  • Requires constant use of arms, hands, fingers, eyes, legs, and back. 
  • Able to work in various weather conditions. The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
  • Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing 50-100lbs
  • Able to work shifts that are 8-12 hours long.
  • Ability to work 0 to 35 feet above the ground.
